Stage 3, Unley - Stirling
After several attempts the breakaway was finally formed by 8 riders. Most notable names Johan Vansummeren and Michael Schär. The breakaway almost won. But because Schär started to celebrate too soon Chris Horner overtake him. Fabian Cancellara was third. Boasson-Hagen was sixth but I expected more. Sagan was tenth.
Schär celebrating too early. Horner says thanks and takes win.

4 Edvald Boasson Hagen Mechel - Kuota + 7
Stage 4, Norwood - Goolwa
Big breakaway group including 14 riders. Shpivelski was one of those 14 riders. Shpivelski takes the mountain sprint and are now close to win mountain jersey. The Peloton wasn't intrested to fight for win today so the winner will be on of those 14 riders. After tough battle Tomas Vaitkus wins, Dennis Van Winden was second and Ben Swift third. Shpilevski was unable challenge Vaitkus today and 8th was the best place in which he was able to take. No time difference beetween breakaway and Peloton.
Sorry no results. I forgot export them.
Stage 5, Snapper Point - Willunga
Immediately after start six riders decided to breakaway. As the previous stage the peloton wasn't intrested to follow them. Enrico Gasparotto, Pablo Lastras, Chad Beyer, Dennis Van Winden, Dimitriy Muravyev, David Le Lay are the names of breakaway group. In the final climb Gasparotto attacked and no one is able to follow. Gasparotto took easy win almost minute ahead of Pablo Lastras who was second. Chad Beyer became third. Boasson-Hagen tried to attack the final climb but was not able to get any gap. Again one bad day for Mechel - Kuota team.

Stage 6, Adelaide - Adelaide
Many riders tried to breakaway but nothing dangerous wasn't happened. The last 500m will decides todays winner. Boasson-Hagen takes Petacchi wheel in the sprint snd after followed Pettachi enough he decides lauch his own sprint and overtakes Petacchi immediately and is now leading the race and looking good only little to go. Oh no, Ciolek coming in the back like bullet but can he overtake Boasson-Hagen. Of course he can.
Boasson-Hagen cannot win.

We failed win any stage here. Im very upset. Sagan was poor I expected much more from him. Boris Shpilevski's mountain jersey win was only good thing here. Hopefully we can take Mechel's first win soon.
I wrote this for about 3 hours, hopefully even someone understands my bad english

of course one understands your english - nice report and in the end your result isnt bad except you could not get a stage win but second overall and the mountain jersey is pretty nice
ps: i think the screens look nicer without the interface on the sides - just press CTRL+U(i think) before taking the screenshot(sorry if you already knew)

I agree, it would be better without Contador, Nibali and Hagen for example, but good luck anyway.

Good luck with your story, should have no trouble getting promoted with such a strong team!
What will you do about cobbled races?

Nibali and Contador not racing much in continental races. Nibali's main object is Giro and Contador tries to win Tour de France and Vuelta.

Thats tough question. I don't know.
Giro della Calabria, 3 stages
Three hilly stages. Two first stages also ending hill. I think that race suits our riders better than flat races.
Squad:
Stage 1, Melito - Catanzaro
Soon after start there was 14 riders breakaway. They worked very well together and gaining more and more gap to peloton. 80 km to finish line the time difference was 10 minutes then Mechel team took control of peloton and began to cut the lead. When the finish line was getting close Mechel team looked good. In the hill Boasson-Hagen overtake the breakaway group and soon Sagan did the same. Boris Shpilevski was third but Stefan Schumacher from Miche looked very strong. Boasson-Hagen was too strong today, Sagan arrived finish about 40 seconds later than Boasson-Hagen. Stefan Schumacher had enough power to overtake Shpilevski just before finish line. Klimov another Mechel's rider was 5th. So pretty good day for Mechel - Kuota.

Stage 2, Soverato - Vibo Valentia
Nine riders was awake for morning and tried their luck. They managed get 10 minutes lead but like yesterday Mechel team takes control of peloton when there was 90km to finish. In the uphill the breakaway group began to fall apart and Mechel team used their oportunity to take the lead. Boasson-Hagen looked strong and nobody was able to challenge him. Sagan took second place 2minutes behind Bosasson-Hagen. Daniele Pietropolli, Serguei Klimov, Boris Shpilevski, Stefan Schumacher, Stefano Garzelli they had a fair but very tough fought the last podium spot. Pietropolli was the strongest rider in the sprint, followed by two disappointed Mechel riders.

Stage 1, Palma - Palma
Soon after start breakaway was formed including 8 riders. Most notable name was Adrián Palomares. When there was 40km to go, gap was 4 minutes. Mechel ordered their riders front of peloton. 30 km to go and gap was under 3 minutes but some reason Movistar wanted take control of peloton but that was only short stint. Mechel took the control again, only little over 21 km to go and gap was about 1,5 minutes. Mechel team tried do everything but it started look that they cannot catch the breakway. 4km to go and the gap was about 50seconds. Peloton failed to catch breakaway before finish line. Adrián Palomares strong sprint was enough today he finishes before Ricardo García and Guillermo Lana. Pello Bilbao was fourth just behind Lana. The peloton sprinted ninth place, Sagan was strongest beating Boasson-Hagen who came tenth. No time gap between breakaway and peloton.

Stage 2, Cala Millor - Cala Millor
Mechel team made yesterday terrible mistake. We need to make sure that don't happen anymore. Silin was first rider today who tried to create breakaway he was followed by three riders. But this breakaway was soon catched by Peloton. Some kilometres later Silin tried again but he was unable to create any gap. Finally there was succesfull break but without Silin. 7 riders now front and 140 km to go. About 20 kilometres later many riders tried to get away from peloton. Soon the breakaway group was big, including 14 riders. 80km to go and gap between peloton and breakaway was only 5 minutes. But because yesterdays mistake Mechel increased pace already. But like yesterday we had much problem to cut the gap. When the stage drew to an end it was obvious we need to use our best cards before sprint to close the gap. Sagan and Boasson-Hagen front of peloton and working very hard. But again the breakaway riders will fight to the win. Winner was Andalucia Caja Granada's rider Jesús Rosendo who outsprinted his breakaway companions. Björn Thurau was second and third place went to Renau Dion. Sagan and Boasson-Hagen were too tired to sprint properly but they did good work becuase of that no time difference between breakaway and peloton.
Results:
Silin with his breakaway companions.
Stage 3, Inca - Inca
After yesterday's disaster, Mechel still looking their first wins here. Today we aren't favorites. 10 riders left the peloton almost immediately after start. But the gap was always less than 5 minutes. Silin was attacked about 100km before finish three riders followed him. Soon they joined the leading group. Silin became second the first mountain sprint. Kern was first. When the bigger hill started Sagan and Boasson-Hagen increased their speed and they soon catched the breakaway group. Despite that they was unable to create decent gap from the next group where was Igor Antón, Samuel Sánchez, Pierre Rolland, Gorka Izagirre and David López. Mechel's rider Pinot was unable to follow the second group and he was all alone. Sagan took 16 mountain points and the mountain jesrsey. Soon the second group catched Boasson-Hagen and little later they also catched Sagan. Now seven riders front. Sagan took Boasson-Hagen wheel. Boasson-Hagen opened his sprint first and none of the other teams wasn't able to challenge him. Sagan opned his own sprint little later but Boasson-Hagen was too strong. It was fine battle between Sagan and Boasson-Hagen.

Srage 4, Bunyola - Bunyola
Sagan took the first mountain sprint. After that there was lot of movement and soon we had 13 riders in front including one Mechel's rider Silin. The peloton do not let get the breaaway away, the maximum gap was about 1,5 minutes before the second climb. Strong riding by Silin in the second climb allowed him win mountain sprint just before Kern. And now the gap was about 5 minutes between breakaway and peloton. There were only 4 riders in the first group anymore. But then Silin fell down and never been able to get back to the first group. Soon the peloton catched Silin and he wasn't able to stay with them. After final climb Kern was alone. Nieve and Rolland tried to break some kilometres before finish but Boasson-Hagen and Sagan followed them and soon the peloton catched them. 1 km to go and Kern in front decent gap behind but he looked so tired and some metres before finish many riders overtake him. Boasson-Hagen was well positioned when the sprint started but despite pretty strong sprint he wasn't able to win. Jérôme Coppel certainly the best today his sprint was superior. Izagirre took third place. Silin crossed the finish line almost 3 minutes behind peloton.
results:
Silin was unlucky today.
Coppel took a surprise victory. |

Stage 5, Magalluf - Palmanova
Todays breakaway group contains 8 riders. including Silin and Kern. First mountain sprint winner was Silin, Kern was second. Silin had still much problem stay with breakaway group. In the scond hill he was unable to challenge Kern. In the thrid climb Silin dropped from the first group. Only Juan Forero was able to follow Kern. Surely Silin were injured yesterday. No mountain jersey for Mechel team in this race. Kern looked very strong he dropped Forero in the last climb and because downhill finish he finished just before peloton. Now riders in peloton fought in the second place and Boasson-Hagen had enough power to beat José Joaquín Rojas.
