Tour de Langkawi - Stage 3

The tour races up to the Cameron highlands as Langkawi hits the tough slopes for the first time in this Continental season.

Hong Kongs' Kin-San Wu began the attacks and was joined by Frisch, Joachim, Fertonani, Swindlehurst, Kreuziger, Ortega and Koldo Fernandez.

I missed an image of the first sprint, which was won by Wu ahead of Fernandez with Ortega 3rd.

Koldo Fernandez was dropped early on in the climb as Koos Moerenhout attacks from the bunch, countered by Alexandre Moos and Fortunato Baliani.

Manan is dropped:

After some toing and froing with good climbers going back to help their sprinters back, sprinters getting dropped, climbings helping them back, eventually both the sprinters and the climbers are dropped. None of the biggies have gone although Jorg Jaksche has aswell as the whole SouthAustralia team, and the whole Designa Kokken team to name a few.

Baliani, Moerenhout and Moos work well together and catch + destroy the break.

At the top of the climb Moerenhout surges away from his companions.

Some of the big names attack at the top to fight for 4th including the likes of Proni, Mazzanti, Perez Marquez, Valjavec, Trampusch etc etc but the descent after the climb nullified any moves.

With 20km to go, Moerenhout holds a 3'15 lead over the peleton as Benfica set the pace.

At 9km to go, their lead Climber Nuno Ribeiro comes to the front and immediately people start to get dropped. Within 2km, the 2minute lead Moerenhout had has gone.

He continues to set the pace and deservedly takes the KoM points.

Ribeiro hands over to Daniel Moreno who takes over as the sprint begins.

Marco Polo's Jackosn Rodriguez cant follow and Moreno seems to have caught out Pre-stage favourite Perez Marquez.

Benfica certainly deserve the stage win and Moreno wins it!

He takes the overall lead too while Manan keeps the points jersey. Moerenhout is given the KoM jersey in a 3-way tie with Ribeiro and Perez Marquez while Moreno is also the best young rider. Benfica are the best team on the stage but it is Barloworld who lead the teams classification thanks to 7th and 8th from Eibegger and Kohl.
