The Isle of Man TT is upon us, and it's shaping up to be a 3 way fight between Ignatiev, Reus and Stannard. Although Larsson's manager has been talking up his form.
As Trusov goes through the first check point, we have one rider from each team out on course, Tennant is best placed, at 19'57", Laidler next at +9", Sestili at +11", Westra at +11" and Van Goolen in 5th at +13". It's all very tigt
While we are still waiting for Anyone to go through Check 2, it being by far the longest of the 3, Kiryenka has gone through check 2, along with everyone other non leader. The new results:
Tennant is still leading, Kiryenka is now in second at +9". Muller is in 8th at +18, but this has been a disapointing result for him.
Bobridge is 6th through check 1 at +11
Up from Tennant is forcing his heavy body up the vicious climb, which is at 20%
Rolland now comes through 10th at +18", the leaders haven't torn it up so far.
Flens now moves through 2nd at +8"
Laidler meanwhile has set the first target at the second check, 1h20'23". Lets just say this is a long time trial.
Larsson now takes the lead at the first check, 4 seconds quicker than Tennant
Stannard now disapoints with +15", I think the hill will be too hard for him anyway.
Sestili goes through the second check 2 seconds off Laidler's pace
Reus comes through the first check point, and he's only 3rd, 9 seconds behind Larsson.
And now Ignatiev, and he's only 3rd. Larsson and Tennant are challenging here. So the top 5 through the first check, are:
Westra now goes through the second check fastest by 1 second, surprising as he's not a great climber, but I guess Laidler's useless.
Tennant is flying today and he now leads at check 2, 45 seconds quicker than Westra, knocking the top time under the 1h20' mark
Laidler has flown downhill, to set a closing time of 1h37'59"
Sestili tries, but he can't keep up and he comes in at +7"
Westra can't decend, meaning that he drops behind Laidler into 2nd +5"
Now Tennant finishes and he is 50 seconds quicketr than Laidler, that will be a tough time to pass
Larsson is attacking the aproach to the hill, he knows he needs to take his time here
Muller does well, moving to second on the road at the second check. +32"
Kiryenka can climb however, and he has climbed into the lead fourteen seconds quicker than Tennant
Now Ignatiev goes through the steep section, he looks solid, and has Kiryenka setting excellent benchmarks to help him.
Bobridge goes through the second check 3rd, +14" for him
Bauer is 4th at +40" at check 2.
Muller gets a tow to the line from Jiriakov and it helps him come in 27 seconds behind Tennant
Kiryenka is looking so smooth, and he extends his lead to 24 seconds at the finish. Today may well disapoint for the British.
Flens is now 4th at check 2. 17 seconds off Kiryenka's pace.
Larsson looked agressive up the hill, and it paid off as he takes the lead by 36 seconds.
As British Champion, Stannard will have been aimming for this race, but it isn't his day. Only +1'06" and 6th place for him.
Clement comes through the finish in 4th, +1'12"
Bobridge descends quiker than Kiryenka, but can't close the entire gap, now he's +13" behind
Reus now come through the second check, he can climb, however not today, as he only manages 3rd at +41"
Ignatiev now comes through the final checkpoint. However he doesn't manage to beat Larsson, coming in 32 seconds behind. What a ride by the Sweede so far, but can he keep it up on the downhill?
Konovalovas hasn't done much at the intermediate checks, but +1'14" puts him provisional 7th.
Jack Bauer goes several better, coming in 4th at +42"
Bodnar saved himself for a final push, and he moves to 6th overall at +59"
Rolland now jumps even him to 6th at +53". The leaders seem to have paced their efforts well.
Flens is now the fifth last rider, and he descends well to jump Bobridge and Tennant, moving into 2nd at +12"
One man who he will not catch is Larsson, who pilled on the pressure to take a 46 second lead over Kiryenka. Amazing
Stannard again can just come 6th, +1'18" Not even the best Rapha rider.
Reus powers to the line, he has sights on Kiryenka's time, there's just one second in it.
Reus sneaks into second place.
Ignatiev hasn't had the best of seasons, but today he came up against a man in unbeatable form. Second at +39" gives Tinkoff a strong 2-4 combo
To summarise however there is just one thing to say:
Well played Larsson
