I am in the Continental Tour and I've gotten a wild card for the Vuelta (2nd season). At the moment I'm 2nd out of the CT-teams in the CQ-tanking and I have a very good chance to get promoted. I do not have any WT-points, only CT.
I have only two other races during that time period; the USA Pro Cycling Challenge and Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda by Bergamasca. Do you think it's any point for me to go there?
No GC-chance, but Guardini can get some top 5's in sprints and other riders as Navarro and that unknown Norwegian dude can get a stage win in a breakaway.
When you won't to get promoted, than you'll better take part in the other races.
Depends on what do you want to do in the Vuelta. With that team you could go stage hunting and you'd have a reasonable chance of winning a couple of stages. Even, if you have managed fatigue well, you could have a small chance of a low top 10 with your created rider if there's a weak field, which isn't a rare thing in the Vuelta.
However, if what you want are easy points to get promoted, then go to the Settimana and the USPCC, you should be up there in both with your guy.
Yeah, I think I might leave the Vuelta be and try to go for the simpler races instead. Last season I won 6 out of 7 stages in the USPCC so the field there isn't the worst.
Strangely enough, the best placed CT-team in the CQ-ranking to compete in the Tour is placed 8th, just over 1000 points behind me...
