It's never early for transfer topic
Lotto Belisol is interested in Vanmarcke. Would be a great transfer for them, but at the end money will probably decide. Vanmarcke has also a desire to keep away from Belgian teams, less media pressure and more relaxed atmosphere in Garmin. Will be definitely interesting saga to follow.

Not going to happen. If he was to go the Belgium, it would be OPQS when Boonen gets over the hill. |

Why that? He could be only captain with Lotto?

Yep, but his support team would be better at Garmin. I doubt he'd go to a team that basically is Greipel+Van den Broeck+Vanendert+20 odd others. |

Greipel, Bak, Roelandts for the classics are 3 solid helpers.
Boonen is still "only" 31 so i dont think that if he stays at OPQS he will lose his captain status before his 35/36. And than Vanmarcke would have to race like Chavannel than. Lotto still looks a better alternative i think

Plus they have a lot of youngsters with Bille, Debusschere, Dockx, Robert et al who could very well become a solid squad. However the pressure thing is what I think will keep him away from Belgium for now. Better to grow up in Garmin as a classics rider imo.

Mads Würtz who won the junior edition of Paris-Roubaix has been busy since yesterday
Brian Holm, DS at Quickstep, invited him to some sort of team training camp for talents that Quickstep organizes after Tour de France. And Garmin's DS, Johnny Weltz, also sounds interested.
Würtz himself says his dream is to ride for Saxo Bank. |

A couple of weeks ago I heard a rumor about Nibali going to Astana. Nibbles's contract runs out at the end of the season and Liquigas doesn't have the money to keep Nibbles, Basso and Sagan in one team. Astana is said to have made a huge offer. |

Indeed, the transfer is almost confirmed. Astana after BMC has the 2nd biggest budget in peleton and bigger than Katusha even so no surprise hereabout the big offer.
They want to keep Sagan though and will fight for him to extend his contract. With Nibali gone I think he'll stay and be comfortable.

Yeah, this is expected move, still i dont like it, because of Kreuziger who finally had a chance to be solo-captain for GT's and he left Liqui because of that. On the other hand without Vino they could share the three GT's between these two, it would be super GT leaders for Astana and Nibbles with Kreuziger are very good friends also.
Liquigas will go all out for Sagan in the next years probably, i think everyone will try to sign him (he will be worth a lot probably).

Here it is :
Sagan extends with Liguigas despite sponsorship uncertainty
Sagan extends for 3 years and hopefully that means this safeguards future of team.

Well, it's probably easier to sell a sponsorship when you have Sagan on a 3-year-contract. |

Exactly. These are great news, Peter is very grateful that Liquigas gave him a chance (They are maybe still tearing their hair off in Quickstep, where he failed the road testing )
As Nibali is on the way off probably, i hope Liquigas will build stronger classics team, only Guarnieri and Oss were able to help Sagan a little this year (Oss didnt have the best of classics season this year).

Guarnieri doesn't ride for Liquigas, he rides for Astana.
But I think, as you said, that they're turning into more of a classics team. They've got some really interesting youngsters in the squad, like Stefano Agostini, Moreno Moser and Daniele Ratto. Especially the latter was really impressive in Pais Vasco.
And adding the fact that the likes of Viviani, Capecchi and Sarmiento aren't that old either gives them a very good looking team for the future.

I wil be sad to see Nibali leave Liquigas, I really like the team because the kits each year are nice But the Italian team should do more to keep their Italian riders.

Nibali almost renewed with Liquigas:
https://www.cyclin...odale-deal
I´d like him to stay there rather than going to Astana.

I would be glad too, i like him in Liquigas but i am looking forward to where they will find so much money, when Sagan is out of contract next year and he will be worth gold. I am not sure bout Basso contract.
