The London Olympics are just a month away in the Management Game, so its time to pick the nations.
24 Nations will participate in both the Road Race and Time Trial - the same 24 Nations in each.
In the road race, 6 riders will represent each nation. 2 of those 6 will also then get to ride the time trial.
Great Britain automatically qualify as hosts, but the other 23 spots are up for grabs - in a vote.
Each PT and CT manager gets 4 votes. He can allocate 1 nation 4 points, another nation 3 points, another 2 points, and another 1 point. Each D2 manager gets 2 votes - 2 points to 1 nation, and 1 to another.
To vote: Send your votes to the SN-ManGame account only.
The 23 nations with the most points will make it to the Olympics - although there must be at least 1 North American, 1 South American, 1 African, 1 Asian and 1 Oceanic nation involved. (There can of course be more than 1 from each continent aswell).
If you vote for a nation, you will have the opportunity to select that nation's squads for the Olympics - a choice which can be made from all riders in the game from that country. Please specify in your vote if you want to also help select the British team.
Both routes for the Olympics are flat rated:

Samuel Sanchez is the defending road race champion, while for the TT it is Vladimir Karpets. It will be up to you whether they are selected to ride this year.
Vote away!

Really cool system. I'll have to think hard about who I want to be a selector for as much as anything. Belgium is the only nation I *really* want to help with.

Decided to try and get an entry for all of the nationalities on my team. So, Israel, Mexico, Australia, France and Great Britain. The last three are probably getting in, so... |

How exactly did you manage that with only 2 votes?

I have two votes. Five countries. Three are probably going to get in anyway. So I use my two votes for the other two? |

The interesting thing will be to see whether all the nations that we assume will be voted in, do get voted in. And how varied everyone votes.
It may be that all a country needs is the 4 points from a number 1 vote, but more may be needed, hard to tell. Gonna be fun watching the votes come in and seeing it change.

Some countries missing out would be hilarious. I find it hard to believe that Belgium, Netherlands, France, Spain, USA and Australia would miss out though. So many teams have strong riders from those countries. Other than that, this could really be up for grabs.

There's a good chance few people will vote for Belgium, Spain, Italy et al because we just assume that they'll get in. Or maybe I underestimate everyone... Would be suprising if mb didn't give Spain 4 points.

It would be possible for me to throw one together from the PT and CT rankings, but it would take a bit of work.
The Spoiler tag shows the Nations rankings from either the end of the 2011 season, or just before the 2011 Worlds (Not sure which) - only counting the best 10 riders from each country.
Spoiler | 1 | Italy | 11753 | | 2 | Spain | 11199 | | 3 | Belgium | 7509 | | 4 | Russia | 6140 | | 5 | Colombia | 5850 | | 6 | USA | 5552 | | 7 | Netherlands | 4886 | | 8 | Germany | 4771 | | 9 | Luxembourg | 4099 | | 10 | Slovenia | 4051 | | 11 | France | 3688 | | 12 | Great Britain | 3479 | | 13 | Australia | 3260 | | 14 | Venezuela | 2837 | | 15 | Switzerland | 2180 | | 16 | Norway | 2071 | | 17 | Ukraine | 1881 | | 18 | Sweden | 1797 | | 19 | Estonia | 1705 | | 20 | Austria | 1692 | | 21 | South Africa | 1454 | | 22 | Denmark | 1408 | | 23 | Portugal | 1316 | | 24 | Cuba | 1261 | | 25 | Kazakhstan | 1218 | | 26 | Moldova | 1215 | | 27 | Belarus | 1100 | | 28 | Costa Rica | 1073 | | 29 | Argentina | 954 | | 30 | Lithuania | 947 | | 31 | Czech Republic | 881 | | 32 | New Zealand | 832 | | 33 | Ireland | 700 | | 34 | Japan | 533 | | 35 | Brazil | 527 | | 36 | Croatia | 499 | | 37 | Namibia | 488 | | 38 | Canada | 455 | | 39 | Poland | 453 | | 40 | Tunisia | 433 | | 41 | Kenya | 410 | | 42 | Bulgaria | 223 | | 43 | Finland | 210 | | 44 | Slovakia | 199 | | 45 | Mexico | 198 | | 46 | Malaysia | 179 | | 47 | Chile | 176 | | 48 | Bolivia | 151 | | 49 | Latvia | 114 | | 50 | Uruguay | 103 | | 51 | San Marino | 98 | | 52 | Israel | 94 | | 53 | Gabon | 89 | | 54 | Morocco | 87 | | 55 | Uzbekistan | 67 | | 56 | China | 63 | | 57 | Liechtenstein | 50 | | 58 | Qatar | 28 | | 59 | Hong Kong | 17 | | 60 | Egypt | 15 | | 61 | Turkey | 15 | | 62 | Eritrea | 12 | | 63 | Bermuda | 11 | | 64 | Hungary | 8 | | 65 | Armenia | 5 | | 66 | Mongolia | 5 | | 67 | Serbia | 5 | | 68 | Burkina Faso | 4 | | 69 | Indonesia | 1 |

You would guess with the lumpy nature of the course that it will be Bennati's race. |

That would be my guess as well
Nah, this is not CT, Boonen has to be the man to beat.

Bennati was still better when they both rode in the PT.
Those two are definitely the main favorites. It will be also interesting to see the trains, Bennati having Napolitano, while Boonen will count on Roelandts and Van Stayen, at least on paper.
Or maybe one of the big 3 Brit sprinters will manage to surprise everyone with a win home

I'd possibly fancy Bellis' chances more than any of them. I wouldnt expect Cavendish or Kennaugh to make it to the finish in the lead group, anyway.

What if everyone thinks that everyone else will be voting for the Belgium's, Spain's, Italy's etc. so they dont and it ends up that no one votes for them?

I know. And I feel 6 keeps it close to that, while giving PCM11 a chance of coping with it.
And Smowz, are teams likely to be picking 2 riders purely for the TT, I wonder?
