Team History;
The original german team began in 1988, but when Telekom joined in 1991 things reallu began. The team dominated the German NC from 1993 to 2004. Bjarne Riijs won the TDF in 1996, with Ullrich in 2nd. They then reversed this in 1997 as Ullrich won, with Riijs supporting. Ullrich won the '98 Vuelta. Ullrich and Kloden continued to get GT podiums, as did Vinokourov when he joined.
The team changed name in 2004 to T-Mobile more GT podiums followed, as did Vinokourovs L-B-L win. In 2006 Ullrich and Sevilla were convicted of doping, and in early 2007 many former riders admited to using EPO.
Bob Stapelton joined as Manager, before reforming the team as Highroad just before the TDF in 2007.
Now T-Mobile return to prove they can win without doping, and to help clean up the peloton.

Leaders

Andreas Kloden

upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/76/Andreas_Kloeden_20060816_031.jpg/220px-Andreas_Kloeden_20060816_031.jpg

He began his carrer with T-Mobile and now returns as undisputed leader. His class will bring us big victories.

Tony Martin

www.for-cycling.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/tony-martin-world-time-trial-champion-2011.jpg

The World ITT champion moves following the collapse of HTC-Highroad. Of course his target is to defend the jersey in September, but he'll be on the podium long before then.

Linus Gerdemann

autobus.cyclingnews.com/photos/2007/tech/probikes/tmobile_giant_linus_gerdemann/6.jpg

He was part of the team back in '07. Linus is strong enough to lead in his own right, but can also support Andreas.

Jens Voigt

27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lq6l4w5cxd1r1bdobo1_400.jpg

He just keeps on going. Jens will have a free role at the team, attacking everywhere. Not good enough to lead a big race, the small tours are his domain.

Paul Martens

news.velonation.com/Men/Road/Ma_Ml/original/Martens_Paul_tt_dc.jpg

Paul can ride hills as good as anyone on the team, if not better. The punchy Paul will be up there on those tough one-day events

Theres a brief introduction to our main leaders. Strength is key to T-Mobile and they've got it. Small tours are clearly an aim. The rest of the team will be announced shortly in the official presentation, so keep an eye out.

Welcome and January Preview

Hello, i'm Wiley and the new GM of T-Mobile.
It's great to be involved in such an exciting project.
The team has been riding together around Berlin for a few days, getting to know each other.
The team was presented in Berlin in early December, and there has been a lot of buzz since.

Our goals for the season are listed above, as is the full team.

Throughout the year you'll get to know the team and riders in more detail. Each month you'll get an interview or blog with a different rider or two.

Always feel free to ask questions or comment.

Our first race will be the Tour Down Under, and we'll see you there!!

News Update

18/1
T-Mobile Snubbed by UCI
T-Mobile were passed over for a wildcard to the Santos Tour Down Under. The new German outfit will have to wait to hit the UWT as Aqua&Sapone, Androni, Cofidis and UHC all get the nod.
The UCI sited T-Mobiles lack of sprinter as the reason for the exclusion, despite a world champion and several overall possibilities.

So the UCI announced the 4 wildcards for the TDU an we werent selected. Ok this hurts, but were still going to San Luis with high hopes. Our next UWT goal will probably be the Ardennes Classics in April.
In other news, the squad was training well for the first parrt of January, and the 8 riders flew out to Argentina yesterday.
See you there

Tour de San Luis

www.cyclingfans.net/images/tour_de_san_luis.jpg

7 days that open the UCI America Tour for 2012, and begin the T-Mobile season. The warm climate of Argentina will be a nice to start to the year. The rolling route will give the team a good chance at an overall victory.

Team; Martens takes the role as leader, aiming for the GC. He will have strong lieutenants in Voigt, Fothen and Frank. Burghardt has a free role on the flats. Zabel, Lander and Nerz will be gaining experience, relaying and water fetching.

Stage 1
Lander and Zabel took it in turns to try an latch onto the break, but every one was brought back swiftly by 1t4i. Lander took the early KoM sprint, and the jersey. Voigt then tried to get away, but with little sucess.
i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/stg1break.jpg

Burghardt finally managed to get free, dragging Boev(Iterea-Katusha) with him. The two built a 5'20 lead before 1t4i started pulling it back.
1t4i were in control of the chase, and the sprint. Degenkolb lead-out Kittel to a clear victory.

1st Kittel(1t4i) 2nd Guardini(FarneseVini) 3rd Richeze(Nippo)

Stage 2
It took time for the break to form, as Nerz sat on the front, making sure only a few got away. 3 were allowed clear, Kaupas(Dff) Kosyakav(Itr) and Chacon(Andalucia).
Kaupas took all the KoM and IS points of the day.
With over 60km to go Javier Moreno(Mov) tried a move, going 30" clear. He was pulled back by Nerz with 32Km to go.
T-Mobile moved to the front as the road went upwards.
i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/tmobilepace.jpg

The final climb was 4.7km with a 7%avg.
Martens attacked with 3.8km to go, and pulled easily away.
i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/martatt.jpg

He won solo, by just under 2minutes ahead of Vicioso and Frank.

1st Martens(TMC) 2nd Vicioso(katusha)@1'50 3rd Frank(TMC)

Stage 3
A day for the sprinters and 1t4i were all over it. The break consisted of Zeilinskil(CCC) Gardyen(CSS) Avery(CSS) and Trussov(RusVelo).
We tried a late move with Burghardt but to no avail.

Kittel sowed up a second sprint, with Richeze beating Guardini for 2nd

1st Kittel 2nd Richeze 3rd Guardini

Stage 4
An 18km TT would move the GC around, and give us a second shot at a stage win.
Voigt was the day favorite, and delivered the best time.
Martens matched the better TT'er of Vicioso.

Nerz, Zabeland Lander worked hard to pull back the break, catching them just at the base of the final climb.
The final climb is 8.4km at 7% average.
T-Mobile pushed the pace, before Martens launched his attack with 4km to go.
i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/martatt4.jpg

Stage 6
The days toughest stage over 2 big climbs.

Partridge(Endura) took the first KoM, Lavarde(Colombia) won the 2nd KoM and the first IS before Jerome won the second IS.
Katusha forced the pace today, trying to put Martens under pressure.
T-Mobile came to the fore on the final ascent, spliting the race apart.
i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/stage5.jpg
Katusha could keep up, and soon it was a 3vs3.
