I dont really know where to start...
I'm here as part of Vacan's new outreach programme. In a move to increase the teams populatrity several of us have been asked to provide blogs and things through the season.
So... what can i tell u about myself... Im 28 and have been riding since the late 90's as a kid. I went amature in 2003 and profesional in 2004. I hit the big leagues in 2009 and held my own. My best year was 2010, but 09 was good.
Last year started slow but got going in the tour, breifly... I was involved in the stage 9 crash with Flecha and a car... 33 stitches in my legs, and was off form at the end of the year.
This season will be good. Vacansoleil brought in decent riders but we are still aiming to survive in the UWT.
My goals are simple, breakaway and get points for everything and anything.
My contract runs until the end of next season as does Vacan's and DCM's.
Their goals are simple, focusing on the early cobbles, stage wins at the TDF and a Top 10 at the Vuelta.
I'm off to Sydeny for a last bit of pre-season training as my first race is the TDU...
Wish me luck

Just one question, can you make some more detailed race reports than you did with your Peter Kennaugh-story?
Races with Johnny will get more detailed reports, from both his and my perspective.
Races without johnny, depends on the race. Major races, such as classics/monuments, big stages, will be more detailed. Lesser races, other one days, non-uwt races, normal stages will be about the same (break, key things, results)
Hope thats ok.. oh and a few more pics
Pics, will be one per stage avg.
On days were johnny doesnt do much there wont be many/any. Races without jonny will be shorter on pics, one everyother stage i guess...
The opening race of the season around Adelaide. Romain Feillu will be mixing it in the sprints, Mateo Carrar and I will be shooting for a good overall, Pim Ligthat Van Impe Mortensen and Morajko will be supporting and attacking.
Stage 1
Matteo Carrara took the honors of seasons first crash just 5km into the day. Morajko paced him back into the group without any problems.
Ligthart was on the early attacks, before going solo for 50km. He was caught at the halfway stage.
Mortensen the started attacking, going clear with Ermeti(Androni) and Belletti(AG2R). Mort took the first IS from Ermeti, then the KoM points. Belletti won the second IS.
The peloton were leaving it late, catching the trio with 9km to go.
Feillu was unsupported in the sprint, but did catch Cavs wheel with 3km to go.
In the finishing straight Romain faded, as Dumoulin stormed home to win, ahead of Ciolek and Haussler in a topsy-turvey sprint.
Johnny; I spent the day in the peloton. Saving energy for tomorrows day to Stirling. Matteo fell early, but he's fine, just a few plasters. Romain was unlucky but will definatly improve as the race goes on.
Stage 2
Attacks early on lead to a large size break. Rast(Radioshack) Fenn(OPQS) Ferrari(Androni) Vaitkus(GreenEdge) Bookwalter(BMC) Klier(Garmin) Day(UHC) Oss(Liquigas) Hansen(Lotto) Kvachuk(Lampre) Ravard(AG2R) and our own Morajko.
Klier took the first IS points. Moraj took the KoM points, and the second IS.
The pace stepped up as the peloton hit the laps of Stirling. I moved to the front testing my legs. Morajko was forcing the pace in the break.
At 27km to go i attacked.
I quickly pulled out a 30" gap and set off after the break.
At 13km to go Hansen attacked from the break, pulling Kvachuk and Morajko with him. I soon bridged the gap to them.
Behind at 10km to go attacks came out of the peloton, including Carrar Lightart and Feillu.
I was feeling good in the front 4, and being the strongest lauched again at 2km to go. Pulling away i soloed to victory. Hopefully the first of several this season.
Carrara caught and passed the other trio on the line for second.
Johnny; What a good day!! Victory and the GC lead... What a start to the year. Now all i have to do is hold on. I'm feeling good so even though i'm leading i wont stop attacking.
Stage 3
The break went clear early. Klier Seiberg(Lotto) Boaro(Lampre) Day and Schar(AG2R). Klier took the KoM and the second IS. Seiberg took the first IS.
The peloton realed in the escape group with 21km to go. The was a rise at 6km to go. Iglinsky attacked, Elmiger counterd, as did i. The peloton was shocked, and we got 1'00. Sky were pushing but we made it with only 43" to spare. Iglinsky won, and i finished 2nd having set most of the pace.
1st Iglinsky 2nd Hoogerland 3rd Elmiger
Stage 4
A break wasnt allowed to form until the halfway point. Roulston(Radioshack) Guesdon(FDJ) and Mortensen were allowed away.
Turgot won the first IS, Urtasun won the second. Fenn took the first KoM and Roulston the second.
The peloton couldnt organise properly and the gap shot up.
Roulston powered away solo to win, by 2'43, enough to give him a 33" lead in the GC! Ciolek sprinted to 2nd, and Feillu in 3rd.
1st Roulston 2nd Ciolek@2'43 3rd Feillu
Johnny; What a day. We lost the GC, but it shouldn't be too hard to get back on Willunga. I saved energy, so watch out for attacks tomorrow!
(sorry i forgot to get a pic for stages 3+4)
Stage 5
Willunga hill would decide the race, and i had to attack.
Again it took a long time for a break to form. Vermeltfort(Rabobank) and Flecha(Sky) were the 2 that got away. Sicard took the first IS, and Flech took both the second and the KoM.
With 22km to go, at the summit of Willunga Hill, i launched an attack. Nuyens, Zabriskie and Dumoulin all followed. We were caught with 11km to go.
Ligthart, Morajko and Feillu forced the pace as we raced towards Willunga again.
3km to go Carrara attacked and i followed, as did Nuyens, Zabriskie and Monfort.
Matteo won, ahead of me and Monfort in third.
Johnny; Yes!!! Matteo was excellent to win, and the whole team was perfect. We pressured Roulston and he cracked on the final climb. Now all we have to do is hold on tomorrow, and maybe Romain can get a win.
Stage 6
The final dash round Adelaide to conclude the race. Mortensen and Casper broke away. Mortensen took the first IS and Kom, and Casper took the second set.
I was sitting in the peloton, just watching for any dangers.
The break was caught at 10km, but Feillu, Ravard and Nuyens attacked with 7km to go.
The sprinters teams were tired and the trio held on.
Feillu and Ravard slogged it out to the finish, with Romain holding on.
1st Feillu 2nd Ravard 3rd Nuyens
Johnny; A simple day to ride in the group. Romain was stong in the finish, and the sprinters were spoiled again.
Johnny; A terrific race for both the team and me. The GC is brilliant and 3 stage wins were amazing. The points gained here will seriously help with survival.

News
Saxo Bank announced they won't be prolonging their contract next season, so Riijs will have to find a new sponsor. The issue here is will anyone want to associate with Contador when he returns... I think so.
Leukemans was ill with a cold for most of the month but is recovered and building towards the Omloop and K-B-K.
Most of the team was training around Rotterdam, building base fitness and form before the European season.

Hi,
January was a great month. I love getting back on the bike. I also love winning, which i did bit of
I'm currently back in Holland training normally. Europe is in the middle of an insane cold spell, so its hard to get the motivation, but that Ochra jersey helped.
My next race will be in March, in France for Paris-Nice.
The team will be in action at the end of February for the Omloop and K-B-K.
See you then
Johnny

Btw, don't use png. They take forever to load, use jpg.
Second, very nice results. Although you had that big bonus of a training camp you used it well and won the race. Played tactically well too. Well done

There are many freeware programs that do the job. I use "PictureConverter". You download it or something similar and then when you take all screens from race open this program and convert from png. to jpg. It does the job really fast, save the pictures somewhere else ( I have it in a 'PCM screens' folder situated on my desktop ) and then upload them.

I also use this tool. A nice addition is to change the quality.
I always use 80% JPG. Compare it and you probably won`t see a difference but the file size is 4 times smaller than 100% JPG.
