automatic bike rack?

Has anyone heard of a car roof bicycle rack that would unload the bike to the ground and load it on the roof?
I'm asking because I plan on inventing one for my bachelors thesis/project. I haven't found any existing one yet but if there are some, I need to make mine better in an area where others need improvement.

I have, and I came back with nothing too. Looks like it really hasn't been done before.
