So we are here for the final stage, it's tight at the top with Kisverlovski having to defend his 21 second lead from Lovkvist, with Paulinho just a further 1 second behind.

Further back, D2 hopeful Laverde Jiminez will desperately try to hang onto a top 10 place against strong challenges from Raisin, Evans and Vasquez.

Damrow gets us under way with a time of 18'12"

Then comes Ascani who goes 13 seconds better.

Dempster now, and given how strong he was in the MTT, I doubt he will be touchable today.

He goes well clear with a 17'30", 28 seconds faster than Ascani.

Roulston is next

Hutchings has built his whole tour around this day, and +39" is good enough to put him provisional 4th.

It's now the battle for the top ten. Raisin stole some bonus seconds yesterday, and he rides very strongly to take second at +28"

Now it's Cadels turn, he can only manage +41" but it's enough to hold off his teammate and pile the pressure on the next two riders who may well slip down the rankings.

Vasquez isn't a strong TTer and looses 1'10" on Dempster, dropping him past Evans and Raisin into a provisional 11th.

It may not be for long though, as Laverde Jiminez is awful at this, constantly switching positions, he fades down the stretch to a truly dreadful +1'34" meaning he slips to 11th place. Dissapointing for the Colombian, but surely far beyond his expectations going into the race.

Voekler gets a +1'15", but he knew that his 7th place was safe if he didn't crash, so he almost walked around the corners.

Jeannesson is next, with a +55" but he's under no pressure to gain or lose a place so it doesn't matter.

Peterson +31", a good ride. Keeps him solidly in 5th

+1'10" for Navarro means he stays 4th. This would have been a good tour for Emu had Nazaret bothered to do something.

Now the big three first Paulinho goes, can he get the 1 second on Lovkvist he needs to move up a step on the podium?

He does well, setting the second best time of the day at +28"

Lovkvist now, and he is pushing very hard taking several seconds out on the first time check.

It's not to hard to fast either, as he goes second at +20"

Kisverlovski needs to lose less than 40 seconds to Dempster to claim all three jerseys on the tour, and +29" is enough to secure his victory.

So, Dempster was here for 1 reason, and he succeeded. As did Kisverlovski and Davis, although you can't help but wonder if they should have been using their race days focusing on bigger fish.

D2 Watch: Laverde Jiminez fell at the last, while Hutchings only managed 10th, but this has still been a massively successful tour for the D2 team. An experiment I am sure we will see repeated again in the future.
