Vuelta a Guatemala Stage 11
mb2612
So as I said in the discussion thread, this is recreated from screens and the results, so if there is a rider who I can't identify in the break then sorry. Anyway, on with the show.

i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guat038-1.jpg

Stage 11, it's short and sweet, but will they even turn up? Kisverlovski, Lovkvist and Paulinho are favourites.

This stage is symetrical and you can see the finish line just behind the riders as they set off.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam01.jpg

Raisn, Howes, Vink is the order though the first sprint, Hutchings and Montana are also with them.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam02.jpg

We now have 9 riders in the break, so the new joiners are: Lund, Didier, Cimolai and Petrie-Armstrong.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam04.jpg

The next sprint, and it's Lund, followed by Didier and Raisin, who has now stolen 8 seconds in his attempt to move into the top ten.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam05.jpg

Didier now leads Vink and Howes over the first climb of the day.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam06.jpg

The out and back course is clear now as the break rider past the peloton, I'm not sure what the time gap is but lets say 5 minutes with 60km to go.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam07.jpg

Not much happens, so lets jump to 20km to go, where the break are well within range.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam08.jpg

Now Vink wins a sprint, with Montana and Cimolai following him. As you can see the peloton are getting close.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam09.jpg

With 1km to the top Paulinho kicks off the attacks, Vasquez is immediately in his wheel.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam10.jpg

Paulinho is across, and Didier is pushing hard in an attempt to get his leader clear, Lovkvist is now trying to cross the gap.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam11.jpg

Here you can see Lovkvist and Kisverlovski doing the hard yards to make sure Paulinho can't get clear.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam13.jpg

It all comes together, but Paulinho and Lovkvist notice Kisverlovski is way back so attack.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam14.jpg

They immediately get a gap, Kisverlovski tries to get across.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam16.jpg

A small downhill means Kisverlovski can't get clear. Vink nobly comes to help control it.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam18.jpg

Montenegro and Orozco are finding the pace tough and slip off the back.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam19.jpg

Carrara helps Kisverlovski pull back the two attackers. If Carrara is strong he could be a real danger here.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam20.jpg

1.5km to go and Kisverlovski goes for it, his two ever present rivals are on his wheel yet again.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam21.jpg

And Kisverlovski starts the sprint from the front
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam22.jpg

Lovkvist fades back to Carrara as Paulinho goes alongside the yellow jersey, Mercado and Eltink are at the back of the shot.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam23.jpg

Paulinho moves into the lead. A win here would put him in second at the end of the day.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam24.jpg

As they cross the startline Paulinho has the lead, lets hope he didn't confuse this with the finish though.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam25.jpg

Eltink is flying down the right and comes up alongside the Portugeuse rider.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam26.jpg

And over the finish Paulinho is pipped by Eltink, who has protected Lovkvist 2nd place by just 1 second.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam27.jpg

Kisverlovski, Mercado and Carrara are next
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam29.jpg

Further back Davis sprints to 11th, but that is not enough to keep the points jersey on his back, and he looses it to his teammate.
i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m584/mb261289/guat/Guatam30.jpg

So, Kisverlovski extends his advantage over Lovkvist to 21 seconds, has he sown it up?

D2 Watch: Hutchings in thee break, Serrano rides well to 13th, and no change on the GC.
