Stage 5 and we are back in the mountains. Another flat finish makes it likely a group will come in together, but will Vasquez be in it?

The favourites are Carrara, Nazaret and Kiverlovski again, but will Carrara be feeling his fall yesterday?

Nozal, Howes and Orozco attack today. But Orozco is 4th, so surely won't be allowed to stay away.

Petrie-Armstrong is chased down, but the break have 2 minutes, so Orozco is comfortably in yellow. Aker are still hoping other people sort it out.

I've just noticed that Hirschlein is in the break for Aker, thus giving them a flimsy excuse if they loose their yellow jersey, anyway, he wins the first climb of the day from Howes and Voekler. This moves Voekler into the polkadots.

This climb is harder than it looks as the peloton is down to 26. And missing out is the yellow jersey!!! Vasquez hasn't been what one would call consistent.

Montenegro, Evans and Jeannesson are also with the yellow jersey, but they can't close the 1 minute gap on Hollister and Saab in the peloton.

27km to go, and the punultimate climb comes with the peloton 3 minutes down. Kiverlovski, Paulinho, Stetina, Saldarriaga and Laverde Jiminez all attack.

20km to go and Voekler finally beats Orozco in a sprint, the climb's about to start. Howes is third.

Navarro and Paulinho attack as soon as the climb starts. Paulinho clearly trying to reach his team mates all up the road.

Laverde Jiminez is feeling ridiculous strong as he attacks again, with Lovkvist and Kiverlovski alongside. He's really testing himself against the big boys here. Peterson is attacking.
Sorry, pcm seems to have decided this sceenshot was to ridiculous to save, needless to say the attack didn't last very long

So Vasquez drops to 8th, and it looks to be between the top seven who have been inseperable on the road so far. It may well come down to time trials and bonus seconds to decide this one.

D2 Watch: Noval fades to a still impressive 8th. Laverde Jimenez move up another position to 13th despite missing out on the 18 man lead group.
