Tour of Luxembourg - Stage 4
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_1.jpg
Todays stage is similar to the last one. The hills are a bit easier maybe but still attacks are expexted.
The gaps between the top riders are not that big, so many riders still have chances to win the race.
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Vespa.png Ginanni surely in the best position trying to defend his lead and convince his sceptical team manager.

14 riders in todays break. Quite a big group and probably hard to control as some of them are decent puncheurs.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_80.jpg
KoM challenger i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Cyclevox-1.png Casar, Rabou, Coutts
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wwe.png Didier, Diniz
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Pokerstars.png Dumoulin
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Rothaus.png Kunitski
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/csc.png Talansky
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/redbull.png Vorganov
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pirelli.png Cheula
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/tinkoff.png Ovechkin
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Cerne.png Biondo
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/koppert.png Van Zandbeck
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Trilux.png Devenyns
Most of them are more than 6 minutes back. But Didier is pretty well placed with +3'21 and he got a team mate here. Good tactic by WWE putting him into the break.

Vespa seems to be happy though. With 4 riders working the speed isn`t that high and the group is allowed to get a way.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_82.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pirelli.png Cheula with bad luck. He punctures and falls back of the group. He will need to perform strong now if he wants to come back.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_83.jpg

Obviously no one is willing to challenge i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Cyclevox Casar although there are lots of points to collect today. The Frenchman takes the first KoM with Van Zandbeck and Ovechkin collecting the next points just by being in the first positions of the group.<br />
[img]https://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_84.jpg

But already on the 2nd KoM sprint the situation is different. Casar was obviously not able to sprint for the points and so Ovechkin and Van Zandbeck see their chance and take the high points ahead of Kunitski in 3rd. So we might still see an interesting fight.
Kunitski takes the 3rd with Ovechkin and Casar being next. Obviously it`s mainly these 3 and Van Zandbeck willing to decide the KoM ranking.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_85.jpgi1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_86.jpg

90km and a gap of 7'47. Still Vespa decides to stop the pace. Lucky for Ginanni that Venchi and Bianchi are overtaking from them to bring the group back.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_87.jpg

Again the same 3 riders in the next 2 KoM sprints. First one is taken by point leader Casar ahead of Kunitski and Ovechkin while first two change their positions at the next one.
Kunitski is slowly closing the gap to Casar, who started with an advance of 10 points today.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_89.jpgi1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_90.jpg

50km and the gap is down to 4'30. Still Vespa is not helping and so it`s Bianchi doing most work with Monfort (14th GC) and Pellizotti.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_91.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/BPost.png Vanendert is already 9'54 back due to bad positioning earlier in the race. So he wants to rescue the race and attacks with 40km to go.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_95.jpg

Meanwhile Kunitski also wins the third last KoM sprint ahead of Vorganov and Casar. This will be a close fight until the end.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_97.jpg

More attacks with 2 laps to go. Again i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/BPost.png Vanendert and also i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pirelli.png Busche and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/proximus.png Coenen with 27km to go.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_98.jpg

2nd last KoM and again Kunitski wins it ahead of Ovechkin and Casar while lapping some riders.
At the moment Casar has 34, Kunitski 32 and Ovechkin 23 points and one sprint is still ahead. Kunitski looked the strongest so far collecting most points.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_100.jpg

But also the favourites start to accelerate now. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Vespa.png Ginanni with a small gap to the next group. Roche, Claeys, Ignatiev, Di Maggio and Pineau are also seen ahead of the peloton.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_101.jpg

Realizing that the favourites are coming closer Kunitski attacks out of the breakaway hoping to grab the last KoM to have the KoM jersey after today.
Casar immediately follows.
They have a 17s gap to the rest and another 43s to Di Maggio, who distanced the next group with Ginanni and Roche by 9s. The peloton including Claeys and Sanchez is another 27s back with Bianchi and Cerne doing the work.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_103.jpg

Unlucky Kunitski. On the last climb the favourites overtake him. Di Maggio takes the high pointers with a strong Konovalovas taking the 2nd ahead of Ginanni. The group is pretty much together again, so it might end in a sprint.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_109.jpg

And more bad news for Rothaus. Again Boom and Hermans are behind the group. Obviously they are again waiting for Velits (24th), who just lost contact.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_110.jpg

With 3,5km Monfort pulled everything back. Claeys really has a luxury team mate for this race here.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_112.jpg

And so the sprint starts with Ginnani immediately taking the pole position with the Bianchi duo right behind. Also the other favourites are seen close to the front.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_114.jpg

Surprise, surprise. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bianchi.png Maxime Monfort had enough energy left to win the sprint after chasing the breakaway for 50km. Nice win for him ahead of Ginanni, who might have waited a bit before going that early and another Bianchi rider in Claeys.
So Ginanni will even extend his lead on Claeys and Di Maggio.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_115.jpg

Another bad day for RedBull. Again Kirchen is behind the group. Only Cherel was able to follow the first group today. Also Gautier once again lost contact and finishes 1'06 later.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Luxembourg/mg_lux_4_116.jpg

Boom and Hermans even lose 2'07 today and so all Rothaus riders are out of the top 30.
