Giro d'Italia - Final Results
CountArach
Well what a stunning Giro d’Italia that was. Without further ado, here are the final results!

Final General Classification:
i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game/GiroFinal1.jpg

Who can deny that Ricco deserved to win this? He took the jersey after a smart attack on stage 4 and he hasn’t taken it off since. He won the hilly stages 6 and 17, as well as the finish on top of Etna in stage 9. He was rarely far away from the front of the race and usually did what was required of him to close down attacks when they came.

Sella comes in second with 5 wins on summit finishes. He is more of a pure climber than Ricco and that is, in the end, what cost him the race. Ricco could use his skills as a puncheur to pull out a buffer early int eh race and then his superior time trialing abilities won him the race. All in all though, Sella should not be too disappointed in his results – 5 stage wins and 2nd on GC should never be a cause for disappointment.

Final Points Classification:
i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game/GiroFinal2.jpg

Ricco takes out the points classification as well, which is hardly surprising given that he was rarely off the podium when the break didn’t win. He even gained a lot of points in bunch sprints.

If Ricco was the King of this year’s Giro then Sella was the King of the climbs. Whenever he attacked it was a big moment and so the green jersey will have to act as his consolation prize for second place.

Henao and Denifl had a close competition for this jersey earlier in the race but in the end what won it for Henao was the fact that he was just more consistent. He didn’t have any days losing a lot of time due to poor positioning.

In what proved to be a close-fought battle between Vesuvio and Vespa, the ProTour team won out in the end thanks to their magnificent amount of climbing talent. Vespa made up a lot of time by getting into the right breaks, whereas Vesuvio was forced to do a lot of pace-setting. Also worth mentioning when talking about teams are the following teams, who had 9 riders finish in this brutally hard race: Pearl, Pendleton’s, Wikipedia and Warner Brothers.
