Stage 8, it's short flat and we have the same three favourites, I'm not going to bother writing them out, even if I am really good at spelling Serebriakov now
Noval, Van Kleinsorgen and Richardson are in the break today, and that is the order they go through the climb
Scully and Pozzo join them
with the sprint point at 20km to go, which Scully takes from Richardson and Noval the break have 1'21"
9km to go and Noval goes solo in a futile effort
5km to go and Ford leads Atkins, Cherel and Laidler on a last minute move, annoying Hollister, who are still not letting their lack of a lead out man stop them leading out Serebriakov
They don't get anywhere so lets look at the chain: Serebriakov, Ciolek, Guillen, Crocket with Cooke having lost Crocket's wheel
Monsalve starts the sprint, as Crocket goes for the long one
Rabon, Cooke and Park are on his wheel as Crocket takes the lead. Serebriakov is happy to wait
It's chaos out there, all three riders following Crocket have gone for it, Rizza was leading Baumann and Impey down the left past Hollister when Serebriakov and Ciolek swing right into them and they almost have to unclip to avoid crashing, loosing all momentum. The race jury should DQ them for that.
Round the final bend we can here the clatter of a crash further back, I don't know who is hurt but we can't look away now. Park is in pole position, but Serebrikov is accelerating away, using the curses of those behind him as motivation
It's Serebriakov vs Park
The Japanese rider fades to third as Serebriakov and Ciolek go through for a 1-2. Park still jumps 2 places past Tennant and Boucher with those bonus seconds.
Guillen is 4th, but will have to give his points jersey to Serebriakov, while Cooke got 5th.
Monsalves celebrations cause a small gap to occur, although Red Bull don't take advantage of it for Impey as Cherel closes it up.
Hesjedal is the first rider behind the crash to come in, but it looks like he has lost a minute on the peloton
It's bad news for Red Bull as Kirchen and Vorganov fell. Also in the top twenty who lose time: Salerno, Veikkanen, Tennant, Mazur, Agostini and Renshaw. Thats 9 of them.
Scully and Mcgee are the two riders who have to abandon.
So Bianchi now have 2 on the podium, Impey is in 4th, although a win on the final stage will jump him above Rabon, Park is 5th and Blank has jumped from 58th to 18th in two stages, although perhaps his manager won't be counting his lucky stars based purely on that.
