A corrupt save can make your game crash. You have to remove the corrupt file from the save game folder to fix that problem.
To continue your career, you can use the backup or the latest weeklysave.
The saves would be here: My documents\pcm2011\users\your name\database\solo\name of DB\
The weeklysaves are in the folder called weeklysave, you should see it while browsing to your save game folder.
