Okay, I want your opinion on whether Jose Chacon should race in the Vuelta a Colombia for the PCMdaily Jobs.com. Im a bit hesitant to race him as I dont particularly want him to win, but I want to know what everyone else thinks.

I guess no... He's quite good and I don't want him to win... |

I think he should ride, as he is a local hero. IRL he would ride, even without a pro contract.
Manager of Protour champions 2008, Carlsberg Cycling!! (wow is it that long ago I was in the management game?)

but if he does win, then I don't want to be the one to pay his next year's wage... Because it will be very high |

Why should that stop him from riding? He's almost certainly going to be the highest priced free agent next year whether he rides or not.

i think either way is fine, but considerations like salary shouldnt be taken into account. Perhaps(dont know if possible) you should weken his stats this year, let im ride, and restore them next season. He could be a good climber, but not one that would win.

Yeach, but that wasn't my main reason to not let him ride...
But I do think his wage will increase from what it would be if he doesn't win/end top 10 |

Why should salary mean anything? The Pcmdaily-Jobs.com isnt really a 'proper' team in the sense of being managed. Im picking 7 strong riders from the area that the race takes place and they will ride in the team. Wages is no factor whatsoever and you cant moan about race days as this would be his only race!
As Zutcorp says, it would be far more realistic for Chacon to ride and I am currently planning to let him ride as Im not too convinced by the reasons for no. It seems that the people saying no are the people who wish to win the race themselves and want less competition.
Besides, i dont think he will actually win anyway. There are stronger all round riders than him who I think could beat him. If he does win so what? He should be riding anyway if the Loteria manager had had enough time to take part, so youre not 'losing' out by having him ride.

Precisely. He is just one of many who, if they ride, could beat Chacon.

I also think he should be allowed to ride, i thought you too had a problem with him winning SN, but to me if he wins its no big deal. If you dont want to loose get better riders . IRL even PT teams compete in CT events, so its a similar situation to that.

I have 2 75+ MO Climbers and they are both avoiding Colombia, despite one being Venezuelan.

then yes, thats fine with me. He should ride as a local hero, add a bit of spice to proceedings. It would be a bit much though if he entered loads of hill/mountainous races and ended up winning them all, because after all, we CT managers dont wish to lose TOO much face . The tour of Columbia is a big enough shop window for him
EDIT: And yes, I realise that managers will be bidding for him regardless in the next transfer window, but his price will certainly go up if he can beat the cream of the Continental Tour!
