With eight classics over the month of May it is Germany that will bookend the month which will build up to the Berlin Pro Race. First though we have the much hillier race in Frankfurt, though we do still have a flat run in. There are three main climbing sections with a fairly lengthy climb mixed in with short sharp ones in the first two sections. It is the last climb which could cause a platform for the race win, or at the very least form a small group.
However any break will need to be controlled, we have seen plenty of breakaway success on the tour this year these hilly classics have been unpredictable affairs .
The startlist reflects that a number of director sportif's do not really have an idea how this one will play out. We have a mixture of punchaers and sprinters who can climb in the main.
Riders like Hassen Ben Nasser, Jérémy Roy, Jelle Vanendert
and Dimitri Claeys may well try to break things up.
But this is an important race for the likes of Trilux with their duo of Fabian Wegmann and Matthias Kessler have been waiting in the wings for some time for this. In the mean time Jonathan Bellis has building his reputation as a fantastic punchaer-sprinter, we will see how good he is here.
Ben Hermans, Manuele Mori, Marcel Wyss, Giovanni Visconti and Aleksandr Kolobnev need mentioning also as punchy men who could be there if things are shaken up.
There are plenty of dangerous sprinters also who will need to be dropped the likes of Daniele Bennati, Danilo Napolitano, Romain Feillu, Bruno Santos and Pokerstars pair Samuel Dumoulin/ Erik Mohs will be trying to hang on to any moves or claw their way back into contention.

This is going to be a really tough race to ca- Oh no, wait, nevermind. Bellis is here.
As for my team, I think it will come down to a reduced bunch sprint so I'm hoping Gautier can do well in that like he did in MTN.

I hope Sagan is able to stick to the 1st group to the finish. If he continues his great sprinting from Turkey, I think he can get a good result.

Top 5 goal here....
But seeing riders like Wegmann and Bellis I think I can`t beat these two.
Also riders like Sagan or Bennati could survive the hills.
Just can hope that the hills are selective enough to get rid of the sprinters. Then Hermans with 77 flat skill must do something for me.
But with the national bonus Trilux duo should do best here. |

I really hope that the national bonus and the fact that i have two possible winners is good enough. I'm confident Wegmann can outsprint Bellis, plus i have some good all-rounders who can survive the hills and prepare a sprint for him.
Winning also needs some luck, but anything else than the podium would be disaster. Probably even a 4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-finish.

I wouldn't underestimate Rabon here
He can sprint too but if he is allowed to by the game/AI

I planned to send Flügel here... Then had to send him to the Giro for the experience, so any result here would be good

Great report&race, i feared a messed-up race with some crazy AI decision but everything went fine. I think the win was well deserved, almost seemed too easy to be true. Anyway, the 1-2 win gets a
I hope the other goal races will have similar good results, i don't think that wil happen, though
And of course, i'm happy

Well done to Team Trilux.
Pretty obvious from the profile that this was the way it was going to finish - big-gish group sprinting it out for the win. Should really have been Bellis who won, but he went far too early. Rare slip up for him. |

Disappointing. Hermans being in top 5-10 on flat sprints with several great sprinters but then failing in a sprint without the big ones. Totally failed my top 5 goal.
Luckily it was supposed to be one of the harder ones. |

Amazing race for Trilux, with three in the Top 5. Nationality bonus really proved it's importance here.
Congrats!

Stupid tactics. Bellis would have been favourite in almost any spot in that group .. except the front. Shame Sulzberger crashed, he could probably have sprinted well, but good that Dowsett joins Bellis in the Top 10.
But great report, and well done to Trilux!

I'm fairly unimpressed with my team's results but I'm very happy with the aggression with which we raced for once. Gautier has proven himself to be a fantastic buy.
Congratulations to Trilux, they raced brilliantly.

It was a great read (maybe the best report of the year so far). In division 2 with just 5 mn teams we have not seen much of the type of strategy moves as this race had.
Really a great race to follow and see what was going to wotk.
Trilux had a plan and they made it work - very well done.

That was an intense race! Great report, Smowz
At first congratulations to Trilux, certainly a deserved result just based on the strenght of their line-up.
Hoping for Gasparotto or Bennati to survive the hills turned out once more to be too optimistic, but thanks to the second great performance by Delage right after Battenkill, we exceeded all expectations again.
Finishing 4th in such a big group after bridging up to the break mid-race and still outsprinting several big guns, chapeau!
