Hello fans and followers,
My name is Daniel Teklahaimanot. I was born the 10th of November 1988, making me 21 today! I am from the small African nation of Eritrea. I was born and raised there, and since a young age have always loved riding my bike. Over the years I have become one of Africa's best cycling exports, and have been named by some "The Pride of Africa".
In 2007 I earned my first ever win, at my home race the Tour of Eritrea. The next year I became national champion, and later that season I was named African champion against the clock. This was a huge honour to think I was the fastest man in the whole continent! In 2009 I rode the Tour de l'Avenir, and came 6th. Many people took notice of this, as Le Tour de L'Aveinr is often said to be an U23 Tour de France, the race I hope to win one day!
I was noticed after this race by the guys at Cervélo Test Team, and they signed me on as a stagiare for the remainder of 2009. I learned so much in those few months, and I think without them, I wouldn't be here today.
But now I'm here, far from home in Australia, where I have agreed to race with the ProTour GreenEDGE Team! This was amazing for me, and now I can show my real potential in the pro circuit.
You guys might want to know what type of rider I am. Well as I said earlier, I hope to one day win Le Tour de France! Which means, I love the mountains! I love to climb, as well as time-trial, so I have a great repertoire of attributes that will give me great success! But that's a long way in the future, now I understand my role.
My first season with GreenEDGE is highlighted by many weeklong stage races, as well as many chances to show my skills in the World Tour. This is an overview of all my races:
I start my year in the cycling no-man's land of Oman, quite like my home Eritrea. the race is quite flat, but with one mountain stage I may have a chance to show my worth. I then get my first chances in Europe with 3 week-long stage races in France, and then Catalunya and the Basque Country in Spain.
14.2 - 19.2 | Tour of Oman | 04.3 - 11..3 | Paris - Nice | 19.3 - 25.3 | Volta Catalunya | 02.4 - 07.4 | Vuelta al Pais Vasco |
My next 3 races are the three most exciting of the year for me. First is the Amstel Gold Race, where I will work for my teammate Simon Gerrans who will go for the win! Then one of my dreams will come true when I ride the famous Liege - Bastogne - Liege. After this I will take great form to the biggest race in the US, The AMGEN Tour of California, which with time-trials and mountains is my favourite terrain. Then of course the exciting Tour du Faso begins in Africa.
15.4 | Amstel Gold Race | 22.4 | Liege Bastogne Liege | 13.5 - 20.5 | Tour of California | 22.5 - 31.5 | Tour du Faso |
My final part of the season is exciting too. I start with the UWT Event Tour of Poland, then the Dutch Eneco Tour. I then finish my first season with three big WT Classics, with the GP Plouay, and of course Canada will be a a highlight.
10.7 - 16.7 | Tour of Poland | 06.8 - 12.8 | Eneco Tour | 26.8 | GP Ouest-France | 7.9 | GP Quebec | 9.9 | GP Montreal |
All in all an amazing first season, and I can't wait to get out there. I have 63 race-days, which isn't too demanding, but I will still be very tired come October.

I have it, just haven't reinstalled it yet, and several small problems are preventing me from doing so. Will be fixed soon though.
And thank you so much valverde! GreenEDGE was of course a contributing factor, but it was still Danny's pure awesomeness that brought it home.

I think I am cursed to never have a successful story. The link for the WM DB is not working, and hasn't for a while now, so I gave up.

Really great rider choice, looking forward to it
sutty68 It's great indeed, but Teddy just copied it from GE's website. He didn't make it, although it looks great and looks very nice
Once again, good luck ! Hope you can manage running two stories at the same time
