Effort value of one rider affecting teamates?

Something that I do not understand about the effort value is that it seem to affect all riders when you cange it for one rider.

For example have I many times experienced that while moving my leader up in front of the peloton maybe on dot 85 my riders on short relay (in a breakaway for instance) maybe on 60-65 suddenly increases their use of energy significantly and exhaust themselves if I don't discover it early enough.

Another example is when I want to make one rider ride very slowly (maybe dot 20), for instance if you want to drop back to the pack from a breakaway, everybody will be affected and start blinking red and drop down or out of the pack.
If you put one rider on dot 0 everybody immediately stop and as soon as you touch the effort value for anyobe rider the all start riding normal pace again even the guy on dot 0.

This is really troublesome and makes it diffucult just to make one person drop a few positions in the pack because the entire team will start to drop. Does anybody know how to avoid this?

It's a known problem that will occur of you right click a rider. Use the panel on the left instead and you'll be fine.

No problem.

Every year PCM has some sort of hidden problem that people arn't aware of for weeks after the game's launch.
