This is a new one for me. A blank message with the only option being to accept. Accept what ? I have already had sponsorship messages.
Advice or further info anyone please. photo of offending issue attached. |

About the error:
As far as I know, it comes from incompatibility between patch and DB. Are you sure that you installed the DB like this and that the DB is compatible with the patch you installed.
Installation order:
1. Game
2. Patch
3. DB
In case you have to install another patch later, you need to install the DB again afterwards. |

Alexanderlens. For sure. I am very careful to install in the right order to the correct directories. As I say no other problems. I noticed some people reporting crashes when clicking accept buttons on seemingly blank messages. Not me, game is running fine apart from this issue. Just going to try and rectify.

Who spoke too soon, yes I did. Now I get the crashes when I click the "accept" button. I have tried both Lachi's and the PCM fast editor following all the instructions and after a totally frustrating night I am lost. I went into GAM config attempted to change the date ( 1 day back ) The editor comes up with 385 problems. Open the game and the dates is still the same 7/4/2013 My db is PCMdailyexpansionpack V1 It's not been any trouble until this problem.
If I use Lachi's editor. I check gene_b_read in DYN_news. There are no visible messages to delete. As I am not used to using these editors, I really need some "belt and braces" assistance with this problem. please. |

Are you sure that you are opening the correct file?
In the post I linked, he finally got it to work by changing the value in the column "gene_b_important", did you check that? |

I have tried gene_b_important / gene_b_read / gene_b_private, all in DYN_news.
When you say "changing the value" do you mean checking the box ? This makes no difference, there is still the blank message and clicking it still crashes the game.
I appreciate you taking time to help, I feel so stupid. |

I found only one line in DYN_news which had a ticked box in gene_b_important so I unticked it.
I really wonder what you did or which files you tried to edit.
But anyway, download the attached file, put it in the above mentioned folder and then load it in the game, through that load function (and not by clicking on that "load the most recent career" button). Now you should be able to delete this message and/or continue.

I'm guessing I am supposed to re name career_1_9_fixed.cdb career_1.cdb and place it in documents\pcm2011\users\your name\database\solo\PCMdailyExpansionPackV1
Overwriting / replacing the existing file.
Now when I get to the Load button, I click that and the screen freezes.
I have changed stage files before when there has been problems as outlined in https://pcmdaily.c... So I'm not stupid. I have worked in Cad Cam / html. This just has me confused. |

If I tell you to put the file in that folder and load it, then I don't mean to rename it, but I don't think it should matter.
If you deleted the original file now, you would need to take one of the weeklysave files in case my fix does not work and you want to try to fix it yourself.
Your save looks like you started the career before you had fixed the variants. I just tried to help you out by pointing to the correct files, I didn't want to call you stupid or anything. |

I didn't delete it. Initially I did just as you said but at the load career screen when I clicked Load, the screen freezes.
I wasn't saying you called me stupid, I just feel stupid. I guess I am stupid for not knowing that apart from the patches, there were "variants" to fix. |

So does it load or not? If it does not load, remove all files from that folder and only put the fix in and try again.

Well, It's working now. Lets see if I get another blank message. Why don't Focus / Cyanide pay you to sort the game out properly before it's launched. You would do a better job than they have, ever ! |

It's not a problem if you use the official DB with the official Local.cdb. If you use a DB made for a different patch than the Local.cdb (or vice versa), the problem will appear, but that's not Cyanide's fault. |
