Variant problems

So, I've downloaded variants for the Giro and Tour. I've followed all the instructions I've found on here to implement them in my savegame. Yet, I've just finished Paris-Roubaix and the new route still hasn't been announced. Weirdly, when I check DYN_variant_stage the new variant stages are all there, yet when I check DYN_Variant_date there is only one variant each for the TdF and the Giro (which I assume is the default variant included in the .descr files)
Do I have to change anything such as weight value?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You probably did not link the Stages with the Editor.

I tried to put it into my savegame in 2013, and I'm in 2013. I was wondering if it had anything to do with the new game I started. I started it, and quit straight away before exporting the DYN_variant_stage and date. Do i have to sim further?
