How does counter attack work?

Hey

I every race I play I have tryied to make some of my riders counter attack those riders i belive will win the race.

But each time I select the rider who should be counter attacked, the counter attack indicator start flashing and when i put the game in action again the indicator is gone and my rider will not counter attack anybody

What im I doing wrong?

Maybe you are too far back to jump onto his wheel?

The riders who you're choosing to counter attack against, have they actually begun attacking? Because if they're riding normally, you can't counter-attack.

I've also had problems with attacking/counter-attacking when using the inspect button (right click -> magnifying glass). Stopped using it completely now as a result. Maybe it's that?

First of all, you can only counterattack, when the other rider really attacks!
Second of all, you can't use the inspect button, while trying that.
Third of all, you have to be close to the attacking guy, to counterattack him, else you're too far away and it won't work.

Thanks.. the problem maybe that the riders who I want to counter attack hasen´t attacked yet... !!
