Heya all cycling manager freaks
This is a thread for the dedicated career nerds, that like to keep careers going for +12 years.
Iv played all versions since the 06 and always enjoyed long careers on the hardest diffecoulties, both from start in manager option and in in-race diffecoulty.
What I want to discuss is the unbalance of the cyclists after 4-5 years of game, there seem to be a lack of new talents comming up to take on the future. Im now into my 11 season and most of the greats have put up theyr wheels, and the once talented riders (eg. Boasson Hagen, Peter Sagan etc) are old enough to have started drop on stats. BUT no new riders are good enough to take the spotlight. Right now the best sprinter have 79 in sprint, and the best puncheur have 78 in hills, and im not talking about my team, but worldwide.
Anyone out there crazy enough to play extremly long careers have simmiliar experience? |

I agree there is a lack of talents, but one could assume that's cause my budget can't afford scouts. But overall, I only see very few go above 80, those who do, it's usually in timetrial, while they suck at any other skill.

When I started a custom career with a team from Norway I scouted several riders and found two Future Greats from Norway. One got 84 in TT and 75 in HILL, whilst the other one reached 81 in MO
But as mentioned, they kinda sucked at everything else. |

I found too some future greats, but they are really bad, some promising riders are better... |

I think you are not talking about the same thing. The original poster asked about the overall youth development, not your scouting.
This is a problem of the game but it can be fixed with the DB. So it is very important to say what DB you are playing.
This is what matters:
1. Stats of the initial riders
2. Stats of the newly created riders
3. Training matrix.
Most DB makers only care about the stats of the existing riders (and normally they don't even fix the stats of all riders in the DB).
As far as I know the makers of the pcmdaily expansion pack did change the youth riders as well. But I don't know if they only changed the generated names or the generated stats as well.
But I only once read about a project to change the training matrix. It was in the PPDB forum but that DB has not been released yet. |

im only in my 3rd season but i went through and changed the potential and max attributes for about 10 riders who were scouted into the game with only 2 on my team. So it will be interesting to see what happens but i wont be able to let you know for a couple of weeks |

Yes, first season of scouting, I usually find 2-3 riders that have potensial of average +80, 1 or 2 of them might make it, wich is good (using 5 scouts 1st season and letting scouts check every rider of future great out before i sign them. But from season 2 it dries out, and just become worse during the seasons.
If someone find a database thats manage to make it more real, pls post it in this thread. it would be natural with 8-10 new potensial stars every year spread on flat, hill and mountains. Maybe 3-4 of them actually become stars. |

Hello i am now in 2022 with my database and yes, its like finally the old people are right 'they were better in the old days'. Only riders who are super are the ones who been with my team: İ let them go, in order to create my own rivals. İts a bit un-real to say the least.
Cuoghı 81 climbing. İs an example
Che Utting 79 climbing at 23. But they don,t exceed the 80 marker but exceptionally. And in cobbles nobody makes 78
Also a lot of talent seem to come from strange countries (in cycling that is) China, Algeria, İran....
Anyway my Pc crashed so i will wait to 2012 to break my record.
İ would love somebody would make a db for the real Ultra-managers.
With an even stream of talent

Is it not possible to give feedback and suggestions to Cyanide on their current and coming editions of PCM in the forum on
https://www.cyanid.../index.php
If you raise the topic there it may be changed for the 2012 edition? |
