The opening ProTour cobbles race is Omloop Het Volk, the first of 5, and the big guns are all out. 3 riders in particular to look out for are Tom Boonen, Fabian Cancellara and Marcus Burghardt - who have podiumed here for the last two years. Cancellara has a team built to support him, and will hope to improve on his 3rd places, while Boonen and defending champion Burghardt have both won this race, and are out for another victory. The added challenge for them both though, is a new team. Boonen is now with Nestle, and Burghardt with Bacardi.
Beyond these 3, there is plenty of potential challenges. Of the rest of last year's Top 10, only Nuyens is absent. Baugnies, Franzoi, Drucker, Steurs, Bewley and Ballan are all out to see if they can match or better last year's showing - Sam Bewley in particular being a lot stronger this year. Look out for the CT Wildcards aswell. Team Bpost and Koppert may both be new to the game, but both have already put together quite a strong cobbles team - and theyll be eager to upset the ProTour squads.

Like i said before, i'll need a good point haul from the cobbled classics. Without bad luck, Burghardt should deliver though.

Time for the other teams to close the huge gap to Vesuvio a bit.
But would suit this season if one of their riders wins out of the early break. |

This will be our weakest part of the season. If we go past it and then avoid crashes in future races, we should be at the top at the end of the season.

Top-10 is the goal. In fact, that's the goal in all of the following races.

I realised that in addition to my 8 riders, all 4 of my loaned out riders are here as well. I expect loyalty to the team at all costs!

Hopefully Bewley can hang on in the group of other favourites and take a good place in the final sprint. Top 5 is the must goal.

Looking forward to see how Steurs will cope with these races. He needs to attack in order to get a result within the top 10, so let's see... He isn't the strongest guy here at all, but hopefully the combination of 80 Cobbles, 77 Flat and 71 Hill will do the trick. The 200km mark could be the issue though as he only has 75 Endurance and 68 Resistance.
Also I was looking forward to see whether Nolf would outperform me or not - But unfortunately he is not here.

I hope one of the CT teams puts it to all the PT Should be a good race nonetheless, and this part of the season is definitely crucial to a lot of team's overall chances.

Top 10 would be amazing. 3 riders in pointscoring positions would be great for me.

Uh, you realise that they all score points if they finish?

I am interested to see how Bacardi play this, I feel as if the parcours will favour a late attacker. As such I would have Burghardt as a favourite for that along with Ballan, but will he wait for Steegmans?
As such I will go with Ballan ftw.

I hope he doesn't wait for Steegmans I've never seen it happen in other PCM's before, but i haven't actually raced a cobbled classic on '11. If Burghardt does get away, i'm also in a good chance of another high place finish from a small group with Steegmans.
