After reading single rider stories I have decided to begin my own with Radioshack rider Michal Kwiatowski from Poland. |

Michal Kwiatowski is a 20 year old rider from Poland. He is currently with the Radioshack team. Michal is a former Under 23 ITT World Champion. He won the European championship in Road Race in 2007 and Time Trial in 2008. He has also won the Polish Under 23 ITT championships. Obviously a strong time triallist already he is also a decent sprinter.
His main goals for the season will be at the Tour of Britain and Tour of Beijing. |

Hey guys, Michal here.
Can't wait to get my season started but unfortunately I'll have to wait until at least February to begin. I will update you after every race I'm in and my agent Oscar will inform you on the major races not involving me. |

Hi guys, this is Oscar.
Just a quick update from Australia where Michael Matthews has won the road race and Cadel Evans has taken out the time trial championship.
Michal and team-mate Sam Bewely have also been sent on a training camp by Radioshack for 10 days to improve their fitness. |

Hey, the Santos Tour Down Under has been run and won and here is a short overview of what happened,
Stage 1
Tyler Farrar takes it in a bunch sprint from Alessandro Petacchi and Theo Bos.
Satge 2
Another mass sprint but this time Petacchi got the better of Farrar and Bos again came in 3rd.
Stage 3
The 'queen stage' of this early season race was won by Ruben Perez of Euskatel-Euskadi and Sebastien Rosseler of Radioshack finished second in the same time and took hold of the ochre jersey.
Stage 4
Again the expected bunch sprint happened with Farrar edging out Petacchi on the line.
Stage 5
Willunga Hill was promised to shake up the GC but Rosseler and the boys from The Shack kept every attack under control and the whole field came to the line together where Farrar took his 3rd stage win.
Stage 6
The final stage saw Tyler Farrar of Garmin-Cervelo take line honours for the 4th time in 6 days and Rosseler take out the overall for Radioshack

Wow! What a great result for the guys down in Australia. My training camp was a huge success and Johann (Bruyneel) has informed me that I will lead the team at the Tour of Britain later in the year and if I do well maybe even lead the team at the Tour of Beijing! I can't wait for that time to roll around but first I will ride the Etoile de Besseges and look for a top 10 place on a stage. |

Johan Bruyneel- The Etoile de Besseges is a race around Southern France and has perviously been won by big name riders like Robbie Mcewen, Thomas Voeckler and Nick Nuyens. In this race the guys from The Shack will be looking for the GC win with Popovych as he prepares for the Giro.
Michal -
As I said before I'm looking for a top 10 finish in a sprint in this French race.
My first race of the season and I was so excited! Couldn't wait to finally race after a few months of rest.

As a 2 man break got clear and built up a gap of about 6:30 I was safely nestled in the peloton behind Murayev
The break was caught with 25km remaining and then on a wet bend riders started to tumble
Despite Murayev, Busche and Irazir caught up in the crash our train was still decent with Rosseler, Popovych and then myself in perfect position with 5km to go
Unfortunately Yaroslav couldn't deliver me perfectly but I fought back to claim a very satisfying 8th place as Sebastien Turgot claimed the stage which puts me 8th on GC and 2nd in Young Riders

@all do you like the coloured writing. Red for Michal, blue for Johan, black for Oscar and green when it's just me talking? |

After achieving my goals on Stage 1 I was very happy and now just getting through these tough hilly stages were priority.
We got Bjorn Selander into the break allowing us to not have to chase but after a split mid way through the stage Johan pushed Jason McCartney, Sebastien Rosseler and Irazir to the front to enlarge the gap between myself and Michael Matthews in the fight for the white jersey. Unfortunately this meant killing Selander's chances for a stage but that was looking unlikely anyway.
When we got to the finish I had prime position on Turgot's wheel which was fantastic and meant I could sprint to a fantastic 5th and I will wear the white jersey tomorrow! Hinault took the stage ahead of a Saur-Sojasun rider and GC holder Turgot. Taaramae, Matthews and many others lost 5'25

This stage is tough! Well maybe not for other riders but I really don't like hills! If I could get over the last climb in the lead group I will almost definitely win the Young Riders Classification! A very big goal to work for but for today just staying safe and not suffering too much is the aim.
We got my room-mate Matthew Busche into the breakaway and he dropped his companions over the rolling hills of Southern France. It was going to be a LONG day for him.
I safely got over the days first climb and was about to start the descent. Over the radio Johan told the team Matthew had a lead of 8"30 with 120km's to go.
And with 100km to go Cofidis and Saur-Sojasun began to chase for Taaramae and Lemoine
Over the top of the final climb and Busche had a lead of 5"20 while I was suffering like a dog but still in the peloton
Under the 5km's to go banner I was in the peloton with only Popovych with me and Busche had a 1"30 gap but was telling us he was knackered!
Again a crash marred the final but at the front Busche was just ahead as Popovych, Van Hecke (Topsport) and Mombaerts (Big Mat) were sprinting ferociously (after they put in a late attack and distanced themselves), the rest of us were out of it.
Amazingly my good friend Matthew Busche held off the charge and Popovych took a strong second and I was so overcome with excitement after the 1-2 I had a little celebration as I crossed the line.

So I retain the white jersey over the race's hardest stages, Chtioui (Aqua & Sapone) is my only competitor and he is at same time as me so I will have to be careful there. I'm pretty tired now so I will play it safe (certainly won't be attacking) so I win the U25 catagory in my first race with a Pro Tour team.
Apologies for the small 2nd picture not sure what went on. |
