This is yet another hilly race, although with only 8 teams showing up I imagine it will be much less controlled than the others we have seen this season.
Only the last stage is really conducive to a bunch sprint and as such the sprinters are really lacking from this tour, with only Santos Impey and De Fauw her, expect Bellis to place very high in the sprints, especially in the first 5 stages which seem perfect for him.
The hilly stage 6 should be the decisive one and here expect Bellis, Kirchen, Monfort and Augustyn to lead the charge, although my opinion is that the bonus seconds Bellis can pick up will give him victory.

You have a startlist for this race?
Seems to be an interesting one with such a small peloton but big names. |

Too bad we didn't bring in Bobridge here Don't expect anything for Oz Cycling here. But the race will be interesting with such a small field.. maybe we will have a chance in a breakaway.

This looks like a breakaway in one of the hilly stages could get the overall to one of the less favourites riders. Will be interesting to follow this one.

Too bad there's no wildcards for this one, but I guess that has something to do with race clashes?
Good luck to all who sent their riders here, will surely be lonely for some on the roads

It's nice that there are such few teams here. We might actually have a shot at something like a stage vitory.
Why couldn't this have happened in Mallorca though?

Totally agree with you, Mallorca should have been easier. I recognize that taking part in these races is a good way to promote.

Reasons a lot of people missed this one out:
1) African - 4 teams were at Nedbank, it stands to reason their wouldn't be a lot of people here.
2) 7 stages - a wee bit expensive for the likes of the Sanchez's.
3) It's not in Spain or Italy - therefore no nationality bonus for the hill kings. I am curious to see how Augustyn and Impey do here neither were particularly startling at the MTN classic.
4) Lack of decisive looking parcours - stage 6 looks the toughest, and this should ensure a Monfort vs Bellis battle.
It's a top 5 goal for me so I am pleased with the startlist of course, looking forward to seeing what they can do here!

I expect nothing from this race, but with the small field anything could happen. Miyazawa might place inside the Top 10 on one of the flat stages though.

The small field here might improve the chances for a successful race for Puma, but some Top 10 should be all.
If some helpers of Rapha and Jayco work too much, Bol could finish good in the GC.

Congrats on a dominating win by Bellis!
And nice to see an Oz in the break, too.

Disappointing sprint by Cerne. Anyway good to see we're willing to try.
And Congrats SN. Seeing how this stage went, bringing Bellis here was a very good decision and will definitely earn you a lot of points.
I just hope the breaks get strengthened in the upcoming stages, otherwise the race will become another borefest.

Well I should be slightly disappointed that Bellis and Monfort also got bonifications on todays stage my hope of winning this race rather hinged on Impey building up bonifications.
That was probably a fools hope so I am happy enough with a very decent 2nd place here. The team feel as if they are strong here, so hoping for a good showing in the stages to come.

Monfort/Rabon was the right choice I guess
But I thought Rabon was some kind of Bianchis Bellis (Hill sprinter) but Monfort finished infront of Rabon..

Mori and especially Bol obviously had a +5 today.
Pity that Bol was caught in the end again, Mori might still be afraid of all the bonus seconds, Bellis can still get, but other than that the expected are in front with Bellis, Monfort and Augustyn. |

I can see that. Mori's break has definitely brought more interest to the race outcome. Now I just need my boys to get in these breakaways for a change
