Admittedly; I am certainly a noob to PCM, however, I have been playing for a few months now with sound success. Having scoured the forums, old and new, with a reasonable degree of diligence, I might have missed a thread relating to this topic. If that is the case, I apologise!
Considering the level of discussion surrounding strategy regarding different terrains with different goals in mind, I have not come across a strategy that implements the infinite relay. I would like to open a discussion to learn from all of your experiences when, and if, you use the infinite relay function.
I am sure that I will learn from your experiences and I hope others will as well!

It makes the rider move to the front of the group/peloton and set the pace until he runs out of energy.

Thanks for the reply but the question is more related to when you use it and why?

aah that thingie I means your rider will stay riding in the wind. But i really don't use it. If i want my riders to get to the front i use the o-> button or the button next to the infinite thingie. |

I use infinite relay when I reel in breakaways (when I only want to expend 1 rider) and when I climb mountains (eg. One rider on Infinate relay with the leader behind, being protected by a good climber.)

Interesting, so do you have the leader on his wheel? If so how do you get hmm to stay directly behind or do you mean roughly speaking behind (a few riders give or take)?
Also if you put one rider on short relay, doesn't it do the same thing to reel in the breakaways?

I play with Leopard in Career Mode. In the mountains stage I am using the infite relay button if a dangerous rider for me in general classification attacks, and I shouldn't follow him because the attack is from 10-30km behind the finish, so I press the infite relay button on one of my (team mate) rider, and my lider is alwas protected by a another team mate.
P.S.: I'm not from England/America but I have a pretty good english...hope you understand
Good Luck at PCM

When you have Jens Voigt in your team. Easy. |

I find the infinite relay useful when setting up a sprint train on flat stages. The game manual suggests using free effort but I use infinite relay as well, I'll set a rider on a high effort and infinite relay from about 20km out. Once he gets to the front of the peloton he won't yield to other riders, so long as he has plenty of energy. I'll then gradually increase his effort to maximum, so he stays at the head of the peloton until his energy runs out. I can then use Follow to bring other team-mates, the lead out man and sprinter up to the head of the peloton in preparation for the final sprint. |
