Tips, Tricks, Hints?
BlackwaterSaxon
I'm a fairly new player to the game as well as a noob to professional cycling as a whole, and due to the lack of any tutorial in game I'm left wanting to learn more about how to become a successful manager both in-game as well as attempting to understand the tactics shown in real life.

I've seen a number of detailed guides regarding the forming of a sprint train, and while I am having problems still with doing that, the area that I am really struggling with are tours and one day classics, I don't seem to be able to succeed in either of these, as I don't seem to be able to break away from the peleton, and any break away that one of my riders joins seems to lose time considerably fast and gets brought back quickly. The latter one day classics also prove difficult and unless they end in a mass sprint I simply cannot break away without burning through energy and turning riders that are the favourites to win (I play as Sky alot and Flecha turns up quite alot as a past winner or a favourite) into riders that just don't perform as well as they should.

I know there must be a problem with me in regards to how I am playing the game, not only due to the favourite riders of a race under my control falling flat, but also because I'm only playing on easy, and I've read so much on the forums about how Normal is too easy.

Is there anyone who can give a brief tutorial, tips, tricks or hints on where I might be going wrong, or what I should be doing, or I'm likely to lose my mind as I watch Boasson Hagen fail yet again to get me a win on a stage he's a sure favourite to win Sad

Practice makes perfect, when I started out I had the same problem. Just don't give up, it takes a while to get a handle on the tactics. The best advice I can give is learn from watching actually cycling, because most of the tactics you see on T.V. usually work well in the game. And continue to search the forum if you continue to have problems, as their are usually threads out there to help people that are new. Wink

This forum, and the PCM2010-one, is littered with tactics on different types of races. If you search around abit you're bound to find something. Other than that, experiment and try out different things, you'll find a tactic that works eventually.

@Mresuperstar - Practice is the one thing I've been trying Pfft I've been attempting to throw some real life tactics at stages in the game, and after Gilberts hill attack the other day in the Eneco tour I tried to recreate something similar in-game and barely got away from the peleton with Gilbert, I am just unable to breakaway and hold a lead for some reason.

@cactus-jack - I wasn't sure whether PCM10 tactics transferred to PCM11, I have the Tour de France 2009 game for the xbox and the tactics I used on there don't work, assumed it would be the same for PCM11

I found something that might help (section 3 might be the most help for you):

Much appreciated Mresuperstar, will start reading this right away, but I was wondering how much of this guide is beneficial to a PCM11 player as this is all PCM10

That guide was actually made for PCM06, but I read through most of it and from what I have read it is still the same. It really shows that the gameplay has hardly changed over the year's. The one thing I do know that is different is getting the water bottles in later versions.
