Stage 5 and this will be decisive. Di Maggio took control yesterday with an exellently timed atttack, but Ginanni and Bellis have both shown strength, while Vanendert and Roy can't be ruled out, other possibles are Kessler and Kolobnev
Today will also decide the Mountains jersey, but Venchi have no interest in letting anyone getting away up the first hill
Sestilli, Di Maggio, Garbelli si the order over the top but more importantly
There's been a massive split, with Kolobnev, Vanendert and Kessler all missing out
A group of 27 lead over the rest, with 6 Cerne riders in the middle
Kolobnev is panicing and doing the work himself.
Although Kessler and Vanendert have it worse, as they are in the group behind Kolobnev, over 2 minutes behind the leaders
As we are about to start the second climb it all comes back together, it's definitely a sign of weakness for those involved though
5 riders get clear simultaniously: Schillenger, Sousa, Kirsch, Beyer and Van Zandbeek. Teklit is chasing themm solo
It's clear Schillenger wants the mountains jersey, and his attack at the top throws him into it provisionally, Teklit joins over the top
By the end of the climb the peelton had taken it so easy the the breaks lead was up to 7 minutes and they have to start chasing
55km to go and the gap is at 4 minutes, Appleby and Cardoso spice things up with an attack
Roy attacks with 25km to go and gets a small gap
The break hit the tours penultimate climb a minute ahead of the 3 chasers, with the peleton 30 seconds further back
The 13% gradients are vicious and within a km the peleton has lost another 30 seconds due to no one wanting to put in the effort
Roy is giving it everything and he cracks Cardoso
The pace is high enough in the peleton that 6 riders get clear: Ruijgh, Kolobnev, DI Maggio, Eltink, Richardson and Hesjedal
Up front 8 riders are together, Roy and Appleby both have teammates to help them, is this a tactical masterstroke?
Richardson cracks, while Ginanni attacks to try and get acroos to the 5 chasers
In fact he pushes past them
Ginanni catches Cardoso
As he catches the leaders Roy and Appleby push clear again
Di Maggio has almost pulled up the other chasers as well, Konovalovas has joined them
So, over the top with 13 km to go, first is Roy
Appleby is 25 seconds behind him
the two chase groups have merged, with Ginanni and Di Maggio at the front
Petrov leads the peleton, 1'30" behind Roy
Ginanni pulls Appleby back
Mount Faron starts with Roy 30 seconds ahead
Ginanni immediately ups the pace again, while Bellis and Richardson have managed to join this group
Ginanni drops everyone except Di Maggio
Kolobnev, Hesjedal and Sousa have also gone clear of the rest
As the road kicks up again Kolobnev manages to pull himself back
Roy has a look of steely determination in his eyes as he digs deep in this 10% section
Bellis pulls a few more riders back, Ginanni seeems to be running out of steam
As I say that Kolobnev starts to crack
And the gap grows rapidly, Kolobnev looks for someone else to do the work
Richardson moves forwards to control it
Up front Roy has extended his lead to 40 seconds, he's now just 17 seconds off overall victory
Ginanni is hurting now as Bellis pulls the two back, Roy's out of sight. DI Maggio needs to do something now
As the gap moves towards the minute mark Di Maggio takes over, immediately the lead group drops to 7: Di Maggio, Ginanni, Bellis, Richardson, Hesjedal, Kolobnev and Konovalovas
13% gradients and Ginanni kicks clear, just 1700m to go now
Di Maggio tries to respond but he lets a gap grow
Ginanni trys to close the gap on Roy, who is still dreaming of yellow
1km to go and it's all coming together at the front
Di Maggio is desperately sprinting to close the gap on Roy
It's to late for the stage, as ROy celebrates, the overall is another matter though
27 seconds later Ginanni crosses the line.
This means that Roy needs 45 seconds on Di Maggio for the overall victory
As Di Maggio crosses the line the clocks still showing 34 seconds, Di Maggio has victory
Bellis solos in 4th almost 2 minutes back
then a group of 4: Richardson, Hesjedal, kolobnev and Konovalovas
Vanendert is 9th
Ruijgh is tenth with Appleby, Eltink and Sousa just behind him. Sousa was in the break as well!
So Di Maggio wins the overall, Roy gets an excellent second after a brilliantly agressive ride, while Ginanni has to settle for 3rd and Bellis gets the points jersey
