Again, the replay pulled the same trick on me. This stage will also be without screenshots, and just a written report. This is the last one though, as SN managed to get my replay of stage 5 working on his computer.
The stage is fully flat with a slightly downhill finish, so it will be a fast sprint. Positioning is the key. The favorites are Greipel, stage 1 winner Serebriakov and Guillen.
We had a very big break today; 13 riders rode away. Their names: Armstrong, Aandersen, Durbridge, Zrimsek, Puccio, Flaksis, Perry, Mclay, Kinney, Hayakawa, Rutkiewicz, Engoulvent and Longo Borghini.
In this stage the sprints aren't contested. The first one is 'won' by Rutkiewics. The second by Zrimsek. What is interesting, though, is their advantage on the peleton. With 80k to go, they have a lead of 6'. With such a big group you never know.
Some riders in the break seem to know this to, as some of them simply stopped working. The result? Eventually being caught with 9k to go.
The sprint trains aren't really coming trough. There are only two 3-man trains.
Train 1 Train 2 Tolleson Murphy Haedo Serebriakov Greipel Briggs
Murphy runs out of energy to soon though and loses ground. Tolleson looks to have brought Haedo but especially Greipel in to a winning position.
And indeed. Haedo launches, but merely functions as a lead-out for Greipel. He comes around with 1k to go, and easily wins. Third is Borghesi, who came with high speed from behind the trains. If it's a consolation for Haedo, he does get the sprint jersey. He has a 1 point advantage over Greipel.
