Stage 4 is hilly, and the uphill kick at the finish should cause minor gaps to occur before the big gaps that will no doubt appear tommorow. The pressure is on to animate the race, as if we have another stage like stage 2 it may well be tough to kick Thor out of yellow tommorow
Ginanni, Di Maggio and Vanendert are the favourites today, so clearly the bookies expect gaps
The early KoM gives riders a chance to attack, and Elissonde goes over first to move up the rankings in that competition. Egger and Thomson are next
7 riders form the break today, the aformentioned 3 plus Schillenger, Beyer, Ignatenko and Portela
Elissonde gets the second climb as well to move just 2 points off the overall lead in the KoM, Schillenger and Beyer folow him over
40km to go and Saab have pulled the break back into sight, just 2 minutes ahead.
27km to go and the stage kicks up a gear as Di Maggio attacks
He soon catches the break, although Schillenger has gone solo off the front again
Roy decides to try his luck as well
Rovny and Konovalovas are next to go, although Saab and Rapha have done a good job pulling everything together
20km to go and all the attackers have got together 30 seconds in front of the peleton
Wyss manages to pull it all back
12km to go and it's downhill until the final km here. Vespa have moved to the front now
Hushovd decides attack is the best form of defence
7km to go and Hushovd has pulled out a 30 second gap. Ginanni attacks
Di Maggio follows as they pull back Hushovd, the peleton are close though
Di Maggio goes past Ginanni and pushes on alone, the other two have drifted back into the peleton
Ginanni attacks again with 3km to go
1km to go for Di Maggio as Ginanni still has 15 seconds to make up, the road is about to get alot more difficult
the road kicks up to 10% as the peleton try to close the now 40 second gap
It's to late as DiMaggio throws his arms up in celebration
Ginanni comes in second
and 37 seconds after Di Maggio Wyss leads in the peleton, again Bellis finishes insanely fast, he is one to watch tomorrow. Eltink gets 5th
