What type of player would you say that you are; the agressive type who attacks alot and gambles on wether you will create a gap or run out of energy, or the defensive type who never really attacks and, if you have to, you might counter.
Personally I'm a very defensive type, I hardly ever attack. The reason for this is twofold; first; I don't seem to be able to time my attacks well enough, second; I have this feeling that the AI can allways attack for longer and more frequently then you can. Not to mention the fact that you STILL can't attack when the gradient is higher then 6%.
I did manage to win the Vuelta by not attacking a single time, I never came alone to the finish. I simply stuck to the contender who was first and I knew that during the course of 21 stages, every other fabourite would crack. I never put seconds on each and every one of them, I was able to put time on one at a time. |

To be honest Im the kind of guy that will attack now and then maybe if I want mountain or sprint points.. I like to keep all of my guys in the front of the field though unless I keep one guy in the back to fill up on water. But I find the break lasting the whole time often which has been leading me to attack someone so I am in the mix of things at the end.

I'm just like you cactus-jack , besides i get the same feeling for the AI that attacks for longer , but that's probably because i play on hard.
I'm very defensive , in classics I only attack once or twice max. Doen't work so well. |

I am usually pretty defensive. But if a break is up the road that I want to be pulled back and all my teamates don't have enough energy then I will attack. Even if I am caught I will have helped to pull back the break. |

I always try to get a rider in the breakaway, if the breakaway looks like it's going to work, I will try to attack out of that, or if another rider attacks I will counter attack and try beat them in a sprint finish.
I normally just try and stick my leader in with a bunch of riders that are favourite and let him ride around with them, try to gain a bit of time here and there. |

I play on normal and there is no difference. The AI can attack even at the steepest sections, but you dont have a chance. Also, even though the AI attacks and I'm countering they can still keep going for a lot longer then my guy. The stats and form doesn't matter, you can have Samuel Sanchez in great shape, but you don't stand a chance if someone with 77 in MO attacks... |

I am the very agressive type, i will attack and then ride my own pace and hopes that he dont runs out of energy. I won a lot of races with this on normal and a few on hard. I was 2nd In TdF with Vdb on hard after Contador ty to the TT..

I'm a semi agressive player i will attack if i want to blow up the field e.g i was in paris nice and i think Gilbert or Ivanov was leading and we were on a mountain stage so i sent Maxime Bouet up the road(now 76 Mountain) and other teams had to chase him which mean the leader was dropped and rolland(my guy could win the yellow jersey) but if i am in yellow i will just hold the bunch togther to the finish as much as i can
Also has anyone else found it really easy to attack off the front in the World Champs in denmark and win i did it with voeckler and found it quite easy(on hard btw) |

How would you class someone who usually doesn't attack, but just forces a high pace in the peloton for 90% of the day, before finishing off with a sprint (or attack on the last mountain)?
Unless its my Vacansoleil career, in wich case if i'm not attacking, i must have crashed

I think normal mode is a bit too easy but that is my opinion.

i would call that agressive. I should state that by defensive I mean someone who rarely makes a move at all, who just sits there and forces the AI to reel in the breakaways. |

Well I did go on a crazy solo breakaway with Ivan Basso on the stage to Alpe D'Huez in the 2011 Tour de France. With quite an attack on the Col Du Telegraph all the way to Alpe D'Huez. Threw my 10th position in the General Classification on the line and went all out, still finished 10th in the end so it didn't cost me a top 10 place by Tour's end luckily.
Got an explosive gap on my GC rivals, they were hardly willing to chase personally but rather used their teams (making it easier), then engaged the ol' Basso diesel engine all the way to Alpe D'Huez. Tore the peleton a new one as everyone behind blew up their teammates trying to chase, with the leaders eventually being the only ones left to chase me. Sadly I could not win as Basso eventually got caught on Alpe D'Huez and could not react to the weirdly fresh and explosive AI attacks. Put a dent in to a few of the GC contenders too, at one stage near the end I had Contador and Evans in real trouble behind the "peleton".
Still trying to find a playstyle which suits myself, and then you got to take in to account your riders at times as Basso is definitely not a punchy attacker. Tried playing both defensively and aggressively in my Tour de France, and in that Tour aggressiveness seemed to be the way I needed to go to match the AI.
I swear the AI does not play by the same rules at times in PCM 2011 using the 1.0.4.4 patch (on Normal at that). Sometimes they do things with lesser riders that, at least I, a human player could hope to achieve as successfully (if at all). Don't get me started on sprints as this is just a raft of weird "AI can do this and I can not" going ons. Somewhere between 1.0.3.0 and 1.0.4.4 my sprints got really horrid.
