Today there are no categorized climbs, so even the sprinters with less capacity to survive the hills will, probably, be fighting for victory in this stage.
Today, 6 riders are in the breakaway:
Bennett (Oz)
Wei and Skikai (Meiji)
McLay (Cyclevox)
Stallaert (Bpost)
Agostini (Ferrari)
Only Shikai sprints to win the intermediate sprint. Agostini and Stallaert just relay in order to be 2nd and 3rd, in this order.
In the second, things are different. Agostini becomes suddenly interested and wins it, beating Shikai and Stallaert.
In the peloton, Trilux and Puma are in control. The gap is about 7 minutes. 84kms to the line.
Agostini also wins the last. Stallaert is able to beat Shikai for second.
With 17kms to go, Meyer (Focus) attacks. He quickly gains a 30 seconds advantage to the peloton and he can see the escapees.
Falls in the pack! Gough, Chérel and Iglinski are the most notable in the group.
Meyer (the rider in blue) is caught with 9kms to go. Time to prepare the sprint!
Criel, Bercz, Barta are setting nicely the sprint for Wegmann. Feillu grabs the ride, it seems, as Gasparotto has Vogt, Meersman and Delage in front of him, but he is losing ground for the Trilux's train.
With 3kms to go, the trains are almost side-by-side, as Meersman upped the pace. Flugel is there, he seems to want to fight for bonus secons today and Rizza is on his wheel. Giaux, Costa and Kennaugh are on the other side of the road badly positioned.
Puma did a nice job and with 2kms to go, Delage is leading Gasparotto while Wegmann seems to have lost Barta's wheel.
Delage is still leading Gasparotto as they enter the last kilometer, but Wegmann and Giaux are closing in.
When Gasparotto leaves Delage's wheel, Wegmann passes, with tremendous power! Giaux is also close, but Feillu is coming even faster, having Costa in his wheel.
And Wegmann wins it by far! Impressive! A perfect lead-out wasn't enough for Gasparotto, only second place for him. And benefiting from Feillu's "lead-out", Costa gets the third.
