In race I don't normally concern myself with the breakaways, normally I just try and pull them back since I have a sprinter. However on one of the hilly type stages I decided I would go with it. So I was going to use Porte as my rider for the break. The first attack came, and I countered with Porte, took almost no energy from him to follow, not even sure if his red bad ever dropped below 3/4 full. Everything was fine, then attacks from within the break, same result, counter with him, red bar never gets below about 3/4, yellow bar is staying just fine also. Did this a few times, never really seemed to give Porte any issues at all, bars all staying well on the good side of things. All of the sudden though (on a flat, not uphill) he couldn't counter anymore, any time I did anything that would cause him to use his red bar even for just a second, would wipe it out completely and he couldn't keep up with the attacks. Tried this with some other riders also, same result, after attacking/countering a few times, red bar seems to completely go away, and even from full drops nearly instantly.
Is there any way to fix this bug?

Ok, guess then is there any way to prevent the computer from being able to attack that often? This seems like a horrible bandage job on an easy fix. Green and Yellow bars both drop considerably during attacks also, and I don't think it is a current problem. I don't like that basically I cannot have a rider in a breakaway because he can't attack like all of the AI riders even though he is better in every category.

After the first attack, whenever they attack just work at 70 in the break, almost always the rest won't manage to drop you.

Normally the AI riders do not attack that often. Consider not to counter every attack.
I rarely see this happen with my riders and I always send riders to the break away. So it depends on the playing style.
I don't send riders in a breakaway that often, i mostly concern myself with having a strong team near the end. When I do go in a breakaway, however I usually counter first, then i just sit back and tell him to hold his position. If I see that he can just sit there and still be a part of the group then it's okay. It's only when I see that they are moving away from him that I counter again. By doing this I get into as good as every breakaway with energy to spare for mountain points, etc. That is unless the peloton doesn't want the break to go.
Thanks for the tips, I'm normally more like you cactus, most my teams are sprinter heavy types so normally I am trying to pull back the breaks, not go on them. But I wanted to try some on the hilly stuff, so maybe I can make it work.

im with you on this and i only send say my sprinter on a break if it a mountain stage and gets some points on the sprints if i need them before the mountain cause when he gets to the mountain bye bye he wont last.
remember the higher you set the bar the more effort he uses e.g say at the start of a race theres a break away i will put the rider im breaking away on say 65 he should be able to stay with them and not use much effort then when they settle down i put him on 70 hold position and watch see whats going on and go from there .
another thing im sure people have trouble with is the relay
problems happen when e.g your 15 km to go there moving pretty hard (bar set 85 or higher) people hit relay all there team is under the pump red bars yellow bars all frigging bars going off hehe your thinking shit wtf have i done well you have more or less fried your team they still might get to line near front but you wont win.
now what i do if im 15 km out near front of pelaton i will make my rider relay but i wont have there bar set to say 90 or what ever i will put it to say 65 just so i can get them to respond with out ffrying them to much then i raise the bar as we get closer seems to work for me
evans just one TDF by 2min my team won the teams by 34min lol my own team of course and funny shit andy schleck is haveing problems with leo and he would not put any effort into the race he come near last lol weird shit in the cycling world
