hi ... this will be a sort of continuation of my 2010 story - charity awareness, same riders as of end 2010 season, but a few changes, new stats etc. ...
settings; race-hard career-hard db-pcm daily (when it finally downloads in a few days time apparently) proggresion-0.5
Shelterbox-Unicef to Continue
Following the teams succes in 2010 the team has secured the sponsorship and funding it needs to continue in 2011.
The UN however has withdrawn its grant for the project.
On the plus side this has allowed 2 new backers.
The first is Swedish construction firm Skaska, who have been looking to boost their brand in the wider world.
The second is aviation group One World, who are looking to aid the project in more ways than just money.
Bianchi have agreed to continue with their sponsorship in the form of bikes, which last year proved extremely sucessful.
Both Shelterbox and Unicef do not have to pay for space on the jerseys, but do have to help with logistics and admin.
The Team presentation will take place soon, where all the riders for the 2011 season will be confirmed, the new jersey unveiled, along with new equipment, and the January-Febuary schedule.
Update;
The presentation has been delayed for a few reasons, updates to our brand new jersey are stil being finalised and the fact that the pcm.daily db is taking forever to download ... 3.3% in about 10hours so ....
Update pt. 2;
Jersey will be finalised in a day or two, one ready just waiting to trial another, pcm.daily db has accelerated to 6.2% in 12hours
Update pt. 3;
Gloves, bottles etc. finalised (thanks jseadog1), pcm.daily db will be downloaded sometime early in the week.
Update pt. 4;
Slight change to the jersey, will be done soon, the db should (with some luck and generous bandwidth) be done on monday, so look out ... Shelterbox is coming

The team are first glad to introduce their manager for the new season - Wiley, who commanded the team through their first season smoothly.
"I am glad to be a part of this project and am looking forward to the new season"
This season new sponsors ha joined the project; Skanska the swedish construction firm, One World the aviation group and Esprit the fashion firm.
Their money will allow the team financial stability until 2013.
The jersey has changed since last year, and may change again in a few weeks time. But for now we have this (thanks to jseadog1);

We have cancelled our entry to the Tour de San Luis, due to an overrun of our pre-season training.
However we were sucessful in gaining a wildcard to the Santos Tour Down Under, and have now entered the Tour de Langkwai instead.
See you in Australia ....
Team;
B. Swift (GBR)
G. Thomas (GBR)
J. Hoogerland (HOL)
S. Spilak (SLO)
T. Phinney (USA)
D. Veilleux (CAN)
P. Kennaugh (GBR)
Stage 1;
Early action in a sprint for the only KoM points of the day, swept up by Kennaugh(Shelterbox). A small break of 3 got up to 3'00, including Sabatini(Liquigas), Hunt(Sky) and Veilleux(Shelterbox). In the end it came to a sprint finish. The Shelterbox leadout was perfect, gifting Swift an easy victory uphill to the line.
Stage 2;
A large break of 14 went clear. 14 differents teams, meaning a chase struggled to fully organise, and the group just held on to the line, although being acreddited with the same time as the peloton. The winner was Finetto(Liquigas). [unfortunatly i dont have any pics for this stage, sorry)
Stage 3;
A hilly stage, with a climb upto the finish. The days break was pulled back very early, 40km to the line. At 30km Spilak(Shelterbox) attacked and got a 1'00 lead. With Phinney and Veilluex setting a hard pace on the front of the peloton, the lead was shrinking. On the final climb to the line, Thomas and Hoogerland got clear of the field, and caught Spilak under the flamme rouge. The gave rise to a Shelterbox 1-2-3, Hoogerland, Thomas, Spilak.
Stage 4;
Another flat stage with a sprint finish, but this time it was Garmin who took control, and Farrar strolled to victory in the sprint, ahead of Swift and McEwen.
Stage 5;
The infamous Willunga hill played its part today, keeping the sprinters on the edge hoping for a chance to win. And thanks to the work of both Garmin and Shelterbox it did come down to a sprint. Again noone could match Farrar, with swift coming very close in the last 50m.
Stage 6;
The final race through the streets of Adelaide. Kennaugh rode solo for most of the day, moping up the KoM points and sealing him that jersey. The final sprint was by now a formality. Farrar was given the perfect leadout, and Swift had to explode to 2nd in the last 50m, and McEwen 3rd.
General Classification;
1. Thomas
2. Swift
3. Farrar
(the full top10, and Shelterbox placings will be released shortly)
Points jersey; Swift KoM jersey; Kennaugh Young rider; Thomas Team; Shelterbox
Summary;
One of our sponsors minor goals was a stage win here, we got 2.
The highlight has to be the 1-2-3 on stage 3.
However it is clear that if we are to challenge in sprints our leadout has to be more organised.
Next up is the Tour de Langkwai ... see you in Malaysia
News Flash;
Bad news, Jerome Coppel was involved in a mass crash on Stage 1 of the Tour de Langkwai, and has picked up a minor problem with his left leg, but he says he wanted to continue and see if it got better. It hasn't and we are now thinking of withdrawing him from the race.
This is what the crash looked like.
122 riders were directly involved. Coppel touched the wheel of Spider-Tech rider entering the turn, ran wide and the rest is history. The rest of our Shelterbox riders made it through ahead of the crash. Coppel lost over 3'00 on the deck, and we hope he can recover quickly.
News Flash;
Another mass crash at the Tour de Lankwai. Stage 6's sprint finish, which was difficult with a roundabout 1.3km from the line, and break being caught at 3km to the line. Just under 600m to go, several riders fell in the middle of the pack, and blocked the road as many more piled over the top. Almost 130 riders were directly involved, including Clancy, Felline, Denifl and Froome from Shelterbox.
Unfortuantly Chris Froome has suffered a broken collarbone and has had to abandon the race. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Tour de Langkwai - Review
After the formalities of the TDU, the Langkwai was full of excitement, upset, and of course crashes.
Stage 1;
A large break of 12 got clear early on, but the peloton could not get organised to chase. As a result the break made it to the finish, even if they were given the same time as the field. The victory went to Geox's Marco Corti.
(Unfortunatly our press man was unable to get any pictures from the day)
Stage 2;
Today 4 riders got away. The peloton got an organised chase and caught the break at 10km to go. However while the teams then organsied their sprint trains the 4 got clear again to take the victory, which went to Konovalovas (Movistar). Some good news for Shelterbox was that Ed Clancy took 5th ahead of the rest of the peloton.
Stage 3;
A group of 10 riders formed the BOTD, noone special. They were solidly pulled back today, for the first mass sprint of the race. Except for a massive crash in the last 3km. Coppel and a Spider-Tech rider went wide and down, and 120 others piled in. Ahead Galimzyanov took his first win. Coppel was slightly injured but continued.
Stage 4;
The season first mountains, and Shelterbox were all over them. The break was caught before the climbs even began. Then Froome and Denifl destroyed the peloton until only 8 riders remained. Uran and Fuglsang went clear on the final climb, with Uran winning the sprint to claim victory.
Stage 5;
Today was all about the 23km final climb, and it was a good one. Froome and Denifl again dominated the head of the race, reducing the lead group to the same 8, before Uran rode to a solo win, followed by Arroyo and Fuglsang. Denifl lost contact with 2km to go, but Froome came gome in E4, and was sensational.
Stage 6;
Back to the flat, and the sprinters. No problems catching the break and a solid lead out for Galimzyanov to win. But with 600m to go there was another mass crash, which totally blocked the road. Unfortuantly Chris Froome was involved and broke his collarbone.
Stage 7;
Yet another sprint finish, but only after another crash took 30riders out of contention. Today was Impey's day, after Van Gummels lead out man boxed out Galimzyanov.
Stage 8;
Bunch sprint again, this time collected by Galimzyanov, after a fantastic effort by the team to control the day.
Stage 9;
Van Hummel took the final sprint in a contoversial fashion, after his fading lead out train blocked Galimzyanov's sprint. Galim could only recover to 11th, and we are furious at the result and have firmly made it a goal of ours now to ruin Skil-Shimanos races.
Stage 10;
The final circuits round Kuala-Lumpar prvided a nice backdrop to a sprint. Van Hummel took it, to our dismay, as Galimzyanov could only manage 4th, losing the points jersy by 2 points as a result.

News Flash;
We are announcing a new jersey today! (by ANFreeman)
Our last jersey was distinctive, but our sponsors felt that a classier jersey was needed.
(I would like to say the last jersey was very good, but the new one has a different layout and color scheme which will be deneficial to the project.)
We will be keeping the gloves etc. from the last kit , as well as a newly created GBR NC jersey with the old shorts.
Our first race with the new jersey will be the Tour of Qatar ... see you there
