Teamers - I have a really simple question that I am sure the answer can be found somewhere amongst a thousand threads so I'll apologise for that. But anyways...
If I begin a career using Database XYZ and I then make changes to Database XYZ (say add photos or change a cyclist name...something simple), once I load up saved career using Database XYZ, will it have those changes incorporated? Or do I need to start a new career for those changes to appear using Database XYZ?
The database file and the save file are two different things, so either edit the save or start a new career.
But in certain cases it is possible to copy the whole table from the DB to the save or at least the whole column. Just make sure to backup your save before you try such things.
Example with the photos, using my excel editor:
Make a copy of my excel file (Exporter.xls) and call it DB.xls. Now open it, load the DB and select DYN_cyclist. Now edit the column gene_sz_tga_photo. Finally sort the data based on the first column.
Now open the original excel file (Exporter.xls) and load your save and select DYN_cyclist. Sort again and now copy the whole column from the DB to your save.
BTW: This does only work until the game adds the young riders to this table, so check that first (number of rows should be equal in both sheets).
cheers lachi. so...since the photos go into program files, aren't they then auto added to the game?
i think i understand your directions. if i edit the db i use and then save the edited version, no matter me being during my career. those edits will be there?
About the pictures:
Only if you add pictures which are registered in the DB/save. Just try it and you will see.
About the editing:
If you already started a career, then you need to edit the save file of that career (which would be in My documents\pcm11\users\your name\database\solo\name of DB\
My instructions only apply if you want to edit both, the DB and the career.
ok so as i do - this is what i am doing and you correct me where i go wrong if i have (this is for adjusting level difficulty) - i open your editor, extract local cdb, make changes to STA_race difficulty and then save. i am assuming it overwrites local cdb db with edited version and is a part of my game whether career or not? i am prob wrong somewhere so no doubt so please fire away mate
The local.cdb is another story. This file applies to all careers. Any change will be in the game immediately. But you have to overwrite the existing file, so better back up before you edit.
