Now each Continental Tour: Division 2 team has a squad of riders, it is time for them to plan out their Man Game season in the race planners excel file. I am sending each manager who has returned their transfer file their race planners this morning.
See the following step by step guide to filling out your race planner:
Stage 1 - Getting and understanding your race planner file.
You will receive a link to your race planner via pm, download, save it and open it. An example of a blank C Div 2 race planner is below.
You will notice that your riders are listed in ascending order of the amount of race points(Column D) they receive. Race points is the amount of 'race days' a rider will be allowed to ride over the season, classics whilst being one day actually cost TWO race points. Your rider will not be able to EXCEED his allocated race days, there will be a number of riders who are unable to ride their maximum allocation.
As you fill in your race planner the handy 'Race Points Assigned' column (Column E) tells you how many points you rider has used so far.
Columns F through to AF list the 26 CDiv2 races that every team has received invitation for. These have been listed in calendar order. Under each race is race points cost and then number of riders allowed. Each race allows a maximum of FIVE riders, apart from the Chrono Gatineau which allows just the three riders in the ITT one day race. At the bottom of each column is a handy check to see whether you have filled your rider allocation for each race.
Columns AG2 and AL2 tell you for each rider whether or not you have exceeded the race point limit and whether your rider has a race clash. There are two race clashes in the CDiv2 calender, the Univest GP and GP Kranj classics and the Vuelta a Asturius and Tour de Maroc stage races.
Stage 2: Filling in your race planner
You will need to write a '1' in the appropriate cell for which you want your rider to race. See below for a fully completed race planner:
You will notice that the 'Number of riders' and 'Team Complete' row is now green, with all the race day use and race clashes column is green also.
For the race planner to be valid the race day use and race clashes column MUST be green. Also the number of riders row must also contain NO NEGATIVE values (indicating you have entered more than the rider allowed in a race).
Races do NOT necessarily have to be complete (i.e. fill the number of riders allowed). However as there is no team that need to do this in C Div 2, this will be frowned upon when it comes to considering your entry into the Continental Tour. Each team is expected to fill their quota for every race.
Finally, it is important to only fill in '1's in the race columns and not adapt any of the other cells. Please do not adapt anything else about the race planner.
Stage 3: Returning your race planner
Once complete and checked for errors race planners should be returned via pm to me. Your pm should contain a link to where I can download the race planner from an online file store. Some of you copied and pasted your excel file as a table into a message for your transfer file, that will not be acceptable here. I am expecting a link to a file stored somewhere online where I can download it.
I have used www.mediafire.com in the past (it is useful to register with them and then files are kept). Though recently I have had issues with their uploader, the one I have began to use more often now is www.multiupload.com. There are lots of others some of you will no doubt have websites that you have used for years for this sort of thing, for others you may have never used one. It is important that you get used to using them for the transfer of ManGame files.
Unlike with the transfers I will not send a confirmation message, if you have sent the file and heard nothing from me you may assume that the file is correct and you can look forward to the racing.
Tips on filling out your race planner
1) The most common mistake in race planners is race clashes. As there is only two places where this will occur in the CDiv2, this really shouldn't be a problem just keep an eye out for those clashing races in the second half of the season.
2) Don't worry about wildcards and possible clashes with them, a high number of C1 races will not have wildcards. Wildcards are received by invitation only and there is not a lot of clashes anyway. Just concentrate on filling out the race planner for the Division two season.
3) Another possible error is over allocation of race points or over allocation of riders in a race. Be careful to avoid these as its possible, this may be punished by race entries being invalidated, particularly if the race planners come in fairly late. (That is your team will not be entered for particular races).
4) Riders with an XP level of 1 or 2 can receive XP points for CDiv2 races (see the FAQ for how much XP points each level receives), so it is worth considering their race entries carefully.
5) It is worth keeping in mind your team goals for the CDiv2 season, when filling out your planner. Your team sponsors will be expecting you to try your best to achieve these goals, but may be sympathetic if your just miss them.
The race planners should be returned as soon as you can, as is the case with all ManGame files and delay means you are holding everyone else up. I am expecting race planners to be returned by Sunday 31st July really, but please do not leave it until that date unless you have to.

Yeah the last three races in the race profiles are in a slightly different order to the calender.
GP Industria is the last race of the season (a hilly classic)!

Hi, i have a question concerning Klassika Sniezka. Is that a gravel or cobble section in the end? I dont know how gravel sections are judged by the game. Does cobble stat count with same importance as hill stat in this classic?
I want to know who to choose to lead the team, puncher or cobbler or best mix of these?
Thanks

It is impossible to make the whole climb cobblestones, therefore there is some gravel sections in between.
This does the stage maker Kissaha say to the climb. |

I have just finished the planning (i will sent it in the evening Smowz, after another look) and i realised some interesting facts.
1)Why the hell i went for 14 riders? 12 are more then enough for so little amount of races in our division. It was because i thought we will be able to put minimum 5 riders on race (which is truth) and without 5 being maximum too
3 of my riders doesnt have more then 10 race days and feel rather like a guests in our team
2)Team with 2-3 leaders and very good riders can cover almost all races of our division with them, in general i hope for more races in the calendar in the future.
3)This man-game is looking like the best thing i have ever seen in my life, i am looking for the season now and i am ready to enjoy some great reports and nice frienly competition

Certainly there was the suggestion before transfers started that 12 riders would have been the best option for a team to be successful.
Don't think your on your own even in division 2 with overestimating the amount of riders you need. It happened to a lot of us (Man Game 2011 new guys) last year and I feel again with the new guys this year signing up far more riders than we needed.
By the way one more planner in and I will have got up to half the planners in already that is very good going, nice work guys

I took 16 riders on purpose, so I can see first hand what kind of riders will bring what kind of results. Will look more into success next season.

1) I realized that more than 12 riders was too much only during race planning as well. If allowed, even 11 riders should be enough for the Div2 calendar!! I tried to get as many race days as possible for my young riders and it was hard to 'find' race days for some other riders.
3) I've enjoyed Man-game so far, the only things that I will miss are definition of pre-race tactics and definition of training schedule for fitness/fatigue....I know it's very hard to include these features (impossible?!?), but it would improve a lot the management aspect. |

Its close to impossible and would take a stupid amount of work. Its not going to happen.

Just a quick update here on race planners and stuff.
Really pleased to see 19 out of 23 race planners returned, this is sort of prompt returning of stuff is exactly the type of thing we are looking for.
A fair bit of activity on graphics and equipment, SN is obvious working really hard on the DB and I suspect the start of the racing is not that far away, kopfan!
Though races will happen in ManGame chronological order so we can sit back and enjoy the CTour openers and the two Middle eastern Protour boys. The CDiv2 managers can rest up in relative luxury in Dubai of course for the season opener.

19 of 23 D2 race planners were submitted by five days ago. A couple of questions.
1. Why 23 I thought we had 24 D2 teams. Has a team folded already?
2. Where do we stand now on the number of race planners submitted?
3. Will Wildcards be assigned before the start of the racing season or as the CT races are approaching?
Finally -- I have patience, but this being our first season when do you think we might start racing 1 week, 2 weeks, September???????
Thanks - anxious to start racing. |

Well we are up to 22 teams having submitted their race planners out of the 24. The other two have been in communication and are on holiday and have done everything else required. So we certainly look like we have a full compliment.
So no teams have folded and I think a lot of you are doing a great job with your team threads and involvement. Don't be afraid to read and interact with the races going on in the Continental Tour and the Protour by the way.
You are looking at a good two or so weeks probably before Dubai, though hopefully as I say you will be entertained by the other racing in the meantime.
