Hey Guys.
I have raced some stage races (not career), to test some teams for my upcomming career.
But i think contador is almost unbeatable in hilly/mountain races?
Do you think the same or, do i maybe do something wrong to beat him

The key is fitness. In a stage race like you are doing, the chances are that all riders have the same level of fitness. In career, you can choose training programs for individual riders and map out how their fitness will pan out over the season. The fitter they are, the better.
Also, use your team to counter Contador. For example, if you are Leopard, attack with Frank than mark it with Andy. Or get Frank to keep a high tempo then attack with Andy.
Good luck!

Of course he is nearly unbeatable.. dude has won 3 TDF's! and is renoun as being 1 of the best climbers in the world!
That being said, he is not unbeatable.. in 7-8 TDF's i have played i am yet to see him win 1, but always in the top 3.
Who are you trying to beat him with? |

Duckman:
I agree with you on that.
He is seen to be one of the worlds best climbers of all times.
And 6 GTs in a row, and just unlucky etc. in this years TDF.
So i agree.
I have tried with evans and A.Schleck.
I actually won some single stages with Schleck where contador came 2nd.-5th.
So i know it can happen ofc
i guess i just need a better tactic for the mountain stages.
i have read some threads and been trying that.
But im always trying to counter-Attack.
But can you come up with some ideas to start the attack?
Like yeah <5KM to the top if its very steep.
if you have 1-2 ekstra riders with you, like F.Schleck he could start it, and Andy counter or?

winning on the mountains is all about what you do before you get to the final climb.. if you have prepared well, you're in with a good shot, if not then it is already over before the climb starts.
1. Up until the last hill, protect your top 3 riders with other team members, that way your 2nd and 3rd best climbers are fresh enough to protect your main guy up the final climb. As protecting riders drop off, keep switching them around until you have your 2nd best rider protecting your main guy.
2. Positioning is key.. You want your 3 main guys at the very front of the pack at the base of the final climb.. You do not want to be wasting energy getting to the front of the pack uphill.
3. Use the solo effort at between 75-78 to try and break away from the group, go higher if needed to break away but drop it back a touch once you make a gap. You need to judge it enough to break away, but not so much you don't have any energy left 2km from the line.
4. Don't attack or counter if you can avoid it. If AI riders attack, let them go, you should be able to catch them with a good solo effort.. A long term steady pace, works far better than a short burst of speed i find.
5. Don't expect to win every stage it is more important to take seconds out of other contenders, than crossing the line first, or sometimes it can be simply about minimizing losses.
6. Experiment on a lower difficulty. once you get success, then try to move up the next level.
The above is more targeted towards stage race in the mountains, hill stages are way more unpredictable i find

Yeah its hard to beat him special with form on, and the dailly form on.
But better win he then the sisterdicks slecks the wankers,
Andy never gona win the tdf, next year contador just go 4 tdf, then sissies schleck dont have a chance. If he wanted to win he had to do it this year, but he made a tactical very big mistake, didnt coop with contador, because he didnt want to excute his brother, they could easilly gain more time then 2 minutes, but he just didnt want to ride with contador, because he was also scared, he couldnt follow him on the alp. then the 2nd mistake he made was on the alp, stay with evans. But they super happy they both on the poduim now, yeah right, prefer i win and my brother finish 4,5 or 6th, then being 2 and 3. They say voeclker is arrogant, but the brothers schleck ar not much different.
Next year contador win tdf 100% sure, |

Well when i atack i atack sooner, i find the last 5km the pace is so high, its almost not possible to get away,
On Alphuez you can atack even the first climb like real life conta did, but you have to get in a group, stay with that group in so you not ride alone downhill part.
What you could do is use the tactic of the schlecks did on the day before the alp.
Send some teammate to the front, time it right that you can ride to the group they in and you have a gap before you reach the group on top. Use you mates to keep the gap. Sometimes this also works online, if nobody hunt ya down |

Rasmussen, your opinion in this thread isnt relevant to the topic.
But thx anyways
Duckman: Yeah ill try experimenting with the top 3 riders in front and make sure they are protected and ready for the final climbing.
Hilly stages or single mountain stage (dont know if there are any in the game?) does seems to be a bit more difficult.
Because here its the punchers who actually have a good chance.
And maybe do a 1/3 to 1/2 breakaway and maybe win. |

If you wait the last climb atack early, try to gain energy and keeping a gap, its kinda hard, Or make your atack shorter, keep an higher pace, effort 80%, as soon as you have a gap, keep an eye if you gain time fast, ifso lower your effort,
Well iam not telling everything, but ride smart, a lot guys who atack keep an much to high pace even when the finally get away. |

Duckman and Rasmussen:
Is it actually possible to do like Leopard Trek did.
By having a team mate in a breakaway, and then about halfway done, sent out your team leader to hunt the breakaway and have your team mate ready to help?
Is that actually possible in the game?
Im sure the Peleton will try to reel you in VERY fast. |

yeah on normal and easy it is possible, i explained that already you didnt read it?
But like in real life they not always let you go, and i did it once with a 77 and 78 climber, also i managed to do it with gesink. |

Rasmussen: Yeah sorry i did read it.
But maybe too quick.
Have you tried it ingame.
Im playing on Normal / Hard, depending on my mood, etc
But i guess it really depends on the standings in the stage race.
And the profile itself.
Because if its like in the 12th stage of TDF. you can maybe send your leader almost at the top of the 2nd mountain?
Or in another stage races, that not be possible.
Hope you get my point

and i did it in a single race also if. try to get a good downhill guy up front, he can make the pace downhill, i used sanches. let him go 90 or higher, when possible lower his % because you can kill him. |

ingame? dont understand what you mean,
tried it online and offline both you can do it. Hard and extreme dont know that, normal is hard enough 4 me, sometimes i cant even win on easy i win because i sent a 77 guys away, but my 81 cant follow the best climbers, get 6 or 7th wiht gesink, this is on normal level. |

i haven't tried to send the team mate out ahead in the break.. the only thing i can think of though, is by the time your main guy catches up, he would have used a fair amount of effort and not have much in the tank.
