Time to conclude the announcement of Wildcards to the one-day ProTour races, and we start in Germany, and the Vattenfalls Classic - the most applied to ProTour race of all. The organisers could hardly look past a German team though, and considering how much he was paid, are happy to add another race to Maxime Vantomme's calendar as he undoubtedly leads Team Rothaus - Aegon.
The other German race in the calendar isnt quite as flat, but this is just as well for Team Trilux - Falke and their duo German leadership of Kessler and Wegmann, in the Rund um Koln.
With 3 German teams applying for wildcards and only 2 German races, inevitably 1 team has missed out. But while Danniele Bennati cannot terrorise the ProTour sprinters in Germany, he still has an opportunity in France, as Team Puma - SAP have received the wildcard for GP de Fourmies. Not only that, but they will also be riding in Seine - Marne - Seine, which will be an altogether much harder task for Bennati.
Moving up the scale from flat to not-so flat, and we jump to the very top with the GP Liechtenstein, a mountainous circuit classic. And organisers were immediately impressed with Ferrari - ERG, who made the race their only wildcard interest, and the team's risk pays off, providing an opportunity for Gianpaolo Caruso to show his worth.
Finally, the time trials. The Chrono des Herbiers is second only to the World Championships in terms of time trial prestige, and Volkswagen-Siemens will be racing here with Kai Reus and Lucas Schadlich. And then theres team time trials, with the Copenhagen-Malmo TTT. Meiji - Fuji will be here to take on the bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden.
And it becomes even more brilliant. Now Vantomme will prove that he is worth 700.000€ and wins the Vattenfall for our team.
3 races at this day, but this was one reason, why I have one of the bigger teams. Plus the other two are nothing for the flat sprinters.
Actually I expected Puma-SAP here with Bennati, but nice that you found a way for all three German teams.
Also nice to see Meiji in 2 PT races. I hope there is a Meiji live stream somewhere.
Congrats to the others.
