The postman for the Ronde van Vlaanderen organisers has not had much to do recently. He expected to be delivering a host of wildcard applications from the Continental division, from all those teams hoping to ride in one of the World's most prestigous one day races - but nothing matieralised. The organisers are dismayed, and are said to be willing to look into any potential interest from any continental division team, presuming any are able to still afford the 75,000 fee.
Elsewhere in the region, the other cobbled ProTour races enjoyed greater popularity. It was not an easy choice, but organisers worked together to ensure a number of teams would receive an opportunity to take on the cobbles of the ProTour.
Making it's debut as a ProTour race, the East Midlands Cicle Classic have opted to support a local team, and thus Cyclevox will join the race in making it's ProTour debut. They may not have the firepower to challenge the ProTour teams, but the likes of Lithuanians Konovalovas and Vaitkus may well be able to take an aggressive approach to the race.
Back to Belgium then, and it is the Dutch Koppert Cycling Team and their trio of Dutch leaders: Langeveld, Veelers and Traksel, who will participate in Gent-Wevelgem, while the very strong Belgian cobbles line up of Vanspreybrouck, Maes and Albert will hope to deliver Team Bpost a strong result in the Omloop Het Volk.
Now to Roubaix. Paris-Roubaix received slightly more interest than the Ronde, and it is Jayco - Red Bull who will receive a taste of the French cobbles. Also, amongst rumours that the town has signed a 3-stage deal with the Tour of Northern Europe, a race that shall continue to mix hills, cobbles and time trials, we can reveal that T.CS Bank - OJSC Rosneft have received a wildcard to this race.

Congrats to the teams. Especially to Koppert and Bpost, who erally deserved a cobbled wild card after focussing on these races a lot.
Quite weird that nobody wants the Ronde spot.
Now even more looking forward to the next wild cards.

Do I detect Team Bpost perhaps accidently losing Procontinental teams applications in the post?
*Scans Proconti squads for likely Ronde candidates*
Oh I see...
Jayco-Red Bull are looking forward to (looking at the back of the peleton at) the Paris Roubaix should be an interesting experience.

Rapha Condor would have been interested in Ronde, but there were 2 races that no other team applied for, and Im about 1k short of being able to afford both of them - so I decided to go for the other one, which shall also be reveled fairly soon.

Personally, I hope CountArach has money left to ask for the wildcard in RvV now. With 3 great belgian cobblers, he has the nationality bonus on his side too. Would be really interesting to watch his team there.
That said, whoever gets it, will surely be worth it. Hopefully whatever team it is, they give the ProTour teams some headache. (Don't know why, but I'm "cheering" for the wildcardteams in any PTrace there is )
And congratulations to all the teams that have gained a wildcard.

Quite pleasantly surprised to see I got into the East Midlands classic I'd hoped that nationality would help my bid.
Congratulations to the other teams, too. I can see Koppert and BPost giving the PT teams a run for their money

The Vespa - Aprilia - De Rosa Racing Team were honoured to be chosen as a Wild Card team for this race last year. With Steegmans and Verbist gone we did not want to disrespect the race by putting forward a squad that would be there to simply make up the numbers.
If the organizers are unable to find a suitable team to fill the slot at this prestigious race, then Vespa - Aprilia - De Rosa would be honoured to send a team led by Italian and Belgian hardmen Manuel Quinziato and Andy Cappelle. |

But regardless of whether I'm allowed or not I'm very pleased to be able to participate in the Omloop - I'm sure that my squad can fight to have a rider in the top 10, or even the top 5.
Congrats to the other teams. If I had to miss out on my spot at Gent-Wevelgum, I'm glad it was to Koppert.

I vote for allowing CountArach to remove his training to race Ronde (if not Koppert got the founds)

I think he isn´t allowed as the Ronde is a monument and he´s a new player. Otherwise i wouldn´t mind.

If I understand the news correct, everyone is allowed now. PCT and CT teams as there is no one wanting a wc.
So any team could pay the 75.000 for this wc. |

I have a question, I bought wildcards for stageraces and classics, but didn´t get in any of the classics. Do I get those 50,000 back then?
SportingNonsense: You would, of course, get a refund if you do not ultimately end up with a wildcard.
If so then I might be interested in Ronde van Vlaanderen. |

PMs to SN-ManGame stating interest in Ronde will do - no file necessary

Ah well, congrats viking90.
I guess I'll keep some money spare next year for this sort of situation.

Well, next year you can apply for Ronde from the start
Saab got it in the end, partly because they are ProConti, and partly because - since they didnt get awarded any classics wildcards - they could afford it without removing any trainings.

Fun! Interesting to see if Breschel have any chance to get a result at all. Will be hard to get 10th like last season I guess. |
