Team presentation
All of the 2011 leaders stayed onboard for the second season, which would not have happened if we had failed to get promotion. They are:
Fabian will of course be aiming for the big cobbled races as well as any big TT's such as the WC and the TDF ITT.
Brad will be aiming to yet again get on the podium in the TDF as well as the Dauphiné and Paris-Nice
Luis will be the leader in either the Giro or the Vuelta which will be decided later due to his flexible training program. He will also aim for the Vuelta al Pais Vasco
Ben will aim to simply improve as a sprinter and build upon the great form he showed at certain points last year. A Grand Tour stage win is not beyond him.
Nico will lead us in the other Grand Tour, possibly the Giro and his main goal is to improve on his time-trialling to make him a more potent stage racer.
During the close season we managed to strengthen the squad beyond anything I had anticipated
New signings
Yes, the greatest puncheur of his generation has decided on a new challenge. To make us the greatest team in the world. It goes without saying what his main goals are!
One of the greatest all rounders currently racing "Eddy the Boss" will be one of our big hopes in classics and shorter tours.
The French fan favourite Sylvain will get a chance in classics and similarly to Hagen his all-round ability makes him useful in one week stage races like Paris-Nice and the Dauphiné
Full Squad

The Tour Down Under is a six-stage UCI Protour race held around Adelaide.
As it takes place so early in the season the winner is usually the one in the best shape after the winter break.
This proved a good event for us last year as Ben Swift got our first ever victory in the very first stage before going on to win overall, which was a massive surprise to everyone, not least me. Ben is back to defend his title along with new signing Sylvain Chavanel.
Our team:
Sylvain Chavanel
Steve Cummings
Alex Dowsett
Calvin Sandell
Ben Swift
Niki Terpstra
Geraint Thomas

If so, what do you think, or are you just waiting for me to start racing?
Any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated, even if that feedback is to tell me how crap I am at this |

You could tell by the 150 views that someone's reading this
Looks fine so far, although I personally prefer cropped screenshots - but that takes a little more time, so it's up to you.
The team looks really strong, but I think it's not too strong. You should be able to achieve some good results. Could you give us a screen of your team's stats?

Thanks for posting. My team is very strong in terms of classics but it definitely isn't too strong for the big tours and sprints.
Do you mean stats of the other riders, like on the squad screen? |

I mean a screen of your team with the detailed attributes, not only the average.

Tour Down Under Stage 1
Clare - Tanunda
Favourites: Cavendish, Farrar, Bennati
A relatively gentle start to the Tour with just the one climb to deal with right at the start. After a few breakaway attempts that were shut down by Garmin, 14 riders were surprisingly allowed to go clear. In it were two Leopard-Trek riders even though they had one of the favourites in Bennati.
At the climb everybody wanted the first jersey of the tour. It was infact Bookwalter (BMC) that took the points and will wear the jersey tomorrow.
Spoiler 1st Brent Bookwalter (BMC Racing Team)
2nd Boris Shpilevsky (Team Katusha).
3rd Dominic Klemme (Leopard - Trek).
Mark Cavendish was wearing his new rainbow jersey for the first time.
The 2 intermediate sprint results:
Spoiler 1st Marco Bandiera (Quickstep)
2nd Stéphane Poulhies (Saur).
3rd Boris Shpilevsky (Team Katusha).
Spoiler 1st Sebastian Siedler (Astana)
2nd Anthony Ravard (Ag2r - La Mondiale).
3rd Dominic Klemme (Leopard - Trek).
Bandiera taking the first sprint ahead of Poulhies and Shpilevskiy.
Matt Hayman(Sky) launched a speculative attack with 30km to go but it came to nothing.
Our sprint train surged into action. Here in the middle with Garmin's train on the right and HTC's appearing to the left, it looked like a three horse race.
It was unbelievably close at the line...
But Swifty(centre) just held on from a rampaging Cavendish(left) and 3rd place Tyler Farrar. Great leadout by Thomas and we win the first stage again.

Tour Down Under Stage 2
Gawler - Hahndorf
Favourites: Cavendish, Farrar, Bennati
Arguably an easier stage than stage one for most riders, but not for us, we have a leader's jersey to defend!
At the start of a very windy day, Swifty sits comfortably in the peloton with his shiny new jersey on. Is that a tribute to his leadout man on his arm?
To begin with 19 riders go up the road for long enough to clean up the first sprint. Isasi took maximum points.
Spoiler Inaki Isasi (Euskaltel-Euskadi) 6pts
Andreas Stauff (Quickstep) 4pts
Boris Shpilevskiy (Katusha) 2pts
The BOTD included one solitary rider, Luke Roberts (Saxo Bank). He unsurprisingly won the one mountain sprint of the day but Geraint Thomas managed to get second to pick up 12 points which will hopefully come in handy later.
Spoiler Luke Roberts (Saxo Bank) 16pts
Geraint Thomas (UK Cycling) 12pts
Tom Stamsnijder (Leopard-Trek) 8pts
Jens Mouris (Vacansoleil DCM) 4pts
Sylvain Chavanel (UK Cycling) 2pts
At the second sprint Cav just pips Swift to second place but Ben's not too fussed.
Spoiler Luke Roberts (Saxo Bank) 6pts
Mark Cavendish (HTC) 4pts
Ben Swift (UK Cycling) 2pts
Matt Hayman attacked on a hill , we all knew how that one was going to end, he never got out of the peloton.
Despite the best efforts of us, HTC, Garmin and Lampre, Roberts rode incredibly and hung on to beat the marauding sprinters with Petacchi breathing down his neck on the line. An incredible ride by the Australian in front of his own fans. He of course takes over the leader's jersey while Swift was outsprinted by both Petacchi and surprisingly Kurt Arvesen to just miss out on vital bonus seconds.
The strong crosswinds caused havoc today with lots of riders dropped including some of our own.

Nice win on the first stage of the season, maybe you can win the leader's jersey again with Swift since there are some sprinter stages left. Now i'm waiting for the hilly stages to see if Swift can resist or if it's Chavanel who will ride for the general.
p.s. Nice team by the way. I like almost all the riders especially Boasson Hagen and Chavanel. |

Yeah, well the problem is all of the best sprinters are here except Greipel so bonus seconds are gonna be difficult to get. Chavanel's plan is simple. Follow Vinokourov . Thanks.

Tour Down Under Stage 3
Unley - Stirling
Favourites: Vinokourov, Carrara, Chavanel
The toughest stage so far sees the riders complete 3 laps of a hilly circuit at the end of the stage with an uphill finish. Could be one for the punchier riders.
Ben Swift started the day wearing a 3rd different jersey in 3 days. Today it was the green points jersey
3 riders made up the BOTD. They were Kaisen(Omega-Pharma), Bichot(FDJ) and Matthews(Rabobank). Between them they took the two sprints and built up a lead of 5 mins before Saxo Bank and Astana started to pull them back
Spoiler 1st Freddy Bichot (FDJ)
2nd Olivier Kaisen (Omega Pharma).
3rd Michael Matthews (Rabobank).
Spoiler 1st Michael Matthews (Rabobank)
2nd Olivier Kaisen (Omega Pharma).
3rd Freddy Bichot (FDJ).
At the mountain sprint, Thomas again attacked out of the peloton to get fourth and pick up vital points. Bichot won the sprint up ahead.
Spoiler 1st Freddy Bichot (FDJ)
2nd Michael Matthews (Rabobank)
3rd Olivier Kaisen (Omega Pharma)
4th Geraint Thomas (UK Cycling)
5th David Le Lay (AG2R)
As the breakaway was caught Le Lay (AG2R) attacked but it didn't succeed.
As we hit the final climb, Sylvain went for it and quickly built a 30 second lead, only Vinokourov got close and Chavanel picked up his first victory for the team. 2 out of 3, a magnificent start for us. He gains 13 secs on Vinokourov and exactly a minute on the peloton, where Swift finished comfortably.

Great day for your team! It looks good for the general for Chavanel since there are not many stages left where he can loose time on Vino. |

Meanwhile, over in Malaysia we have a young team kicking off their season with the Tour de Langkawi which is a 10-stage race including one huge climb to the Genting Highlands, because of this, the winner will almost certainly be the best climber that can also keep out of trouble on the flat stages that make up the rest of this tour. We will be hoping for a GC win from Nico Roche but he will need all the support he can get on the flat. We will receive daily updates from our DS situated in Malaysia.
Good luck lads
Team for the Tour de Langkawi:
Spoiler Nicolas Roche
Adam Blythe
Ruben Chumillas
Andriy Grivko
Bojan Karapetrovic
Dan Lloyd
Alfonso Montanaro
Ian Stannard
