Is Vino's career over?
cadelevans21
After going onto sbs.com.au/tdf after Vinokourov's crash I found an article about the possibility of his crash ending his career
I know hes old and when he finally recovers what'll be the point of racing again but its Vino, he has always been a late person(developed into a good rider later etc..)
Do you think Vino's carrer is over?
Don't mess with this aussy!

Well, Vino did say that this was his final professional race, however, he did say that if the Kazakh government asks him to, he will race the 2012 Olympics.

He was going to take part in San Sebastian this year. But he cant walk on his leg for 3 months, so i supose it's over for Vino. We will never forget how exciting he made the races. Hope he can be a good manager for Astana
Venga Vino

I think he can still get some victories but maybe he has seen his best days. I was pretty sure that he would win stage 8 when he was catching Costa but last climb was too much for him Cool

What if I think the answer is yes and I don't think he's a great rider?

Vino is such a bloody good rider however
I'm not sure, I voted he will come back but thats only if Astana want him to I guess
Astana need him, Kreuziger is not a great rider
hes ok, but would be better as a team mate
Don't mess with this aussy!

Vino is one of my favourite of all time. I really liked his unique style. But I think he's gone for good Sad

I think he's gone for sure. After the Tour disappointment it's doubtful he'll find the motivation to do any more

The injury was described on Eurosport as a potential career-ender regardless of age. Damage to the pelvis where the leg connects into the joint. I doubt he'll be back - I doubt he'd be able to ride at all for a considerable period of time.

Yes, he was cheater, it was not nice from him, but half the peloton was, or is, or will be cheaters.
But he was also one of the best riders to watch
Edit: And helped cycling in Kazakstan from zero to the level they are now on

This is best what he did..like Ulle..yeaah bad boy doper like they all at this time. When he finished Germany had 2 pro teams and cycling popularity was in the sky.
He took hugh part with him after getting caught.

I remember quite good how Vino announced after positive test that career is over now..I will retire. Then he sneaked back from back door.
Still..strange ..when I thinking Vino at first comes positive things.

Unfortunatly not the same sympathy for me. I hate people that cheat, regardless.

Sure thing, but he got caught with his pants down. So in his case, black and white.

Sad to see any rider end his career this way, but thats where my sympathy with Vino ends. The reason I dislike him is not really because he doped, but mostly because of his personality.

With the new UCI rules that won't happen. Any rider that has had a doping offence in the past can't be recruited as a member of staff in a team.
