After passing on a few version of this I bought the game in the hope it would be playable now. Unfortunately I am still experiencing the same save game problems that I have seen previously which makes this game impossible to play.
When loading a game I get to the screen where I can click on 3D race. But when I click on this, it simply shows the next state date and nothing happens. The 3D race never starts. I have installed this on two computers so its not specific to a particular machine. Has anyone ever managed to fix this? For some weird reason (after looking into this lots a few years ago) I believe this might be related to a calendar, time zone issue (I am in NZ and have noticed at least to other people down here NZ had the same problem)
Any help would be much appreciated as getting money back from Focus is nearly impossible.
See here for a cached previous discussion on the cycanide forum https://webcache.g...google.com

I remember the problem, but I don't really believe that any of us here can help you, unfortunately. It must be a serious problem in the programming somewhere, somehow.
If I were you, I'd try to take contact to members of Cyanide through private messages on Cyanide's forum. Perhaps, they would be able to look into the issue. |

do you have the file from your /mydocs/[pcm dir.]/database/solo/[database you are using]/*.cdb?
and could you also add 1 closed before the crash date? /mydocs/[pcm dir.]/database/backup/*.cdb?
then we could have a look. |

I too live in New Zealand and have always had this problem. The only way I found to get round it is by stop playing after the last race of the day and then starting again at the beginning of the next day. |

Hi dafyddhir
Can you explain more on what you mean by stop playing on the last race of the day and beginning at the start of the next day?
Also I would appreciate if you too could send a message to technical support at Cyanide. they told they are looking into it but they also said that a few years ago. If you mention the New Zealand thing that would probably help. My guess is that it's probably an easy fix in relation to times and calendars if they could be bothered to look into it.

Hey mate
Live in NZ also and also always had this problem but think i have found a semi solution. (just finished the TDF in Career)
On the calendar when you hover your mouse above the date it tells you what races are on that day, on some days it will come up with "No Race". (there will also be no races listed in the box where it says how many messages you have)
On this date, open copy your save game and place it in a backup folder). you can now close the game.
the next time you open the game wait for it to load to the home screen, then copy and paste your backup into the database folder. load it up and your good.
This has worked for me everytime so far.
The problem is that everytime the game loads it skips the day you saved it on. this means there are no results for the races that day, this corrupts the save so screws your game.
where abouts in NZ are you?
[EDIT]: another possible fix could be using the advanced editor to send the game back 1 day?? i have no experience with the editor so dont know if this is even possible?
Crue???

Meaty: If what you're saying is true, going backwards a day should do the trick.
When the game "skips" everything, it's usually due to a mismatch between the day and the event the game thinks it's going to start. So if the game's next event is Tour de France is on the 3rd of July, but the date is the 4th of July, the game will mess up as described.
Moving the game a day backwards should fix it.
I don't know, though, if that's a quicker workaround than yours.
You can use PCM Fast Editor or similar to change the date. Open the save-game with it, and open GAM_config. Use this converter - type in the day and time (12:00) and insert it to the column that contains the date. Save, and you're good to go. |

Hi all
Cyanide just told me this will be fixed in the next patch which will be out very soon, so I really hope they fixed it for good.

Well I stand corrected. It was Focus who advised me of this fix (as the technical support contact seem to go directly to them) but of course the new patch does not fix this. I guess its the same as usual in regards to their support. |

Just finished a PM with Eyolfur he has been able to recreate the problem and knows what happens however doesnt know how to fix it as of yet but the good news is hes working on it and it may be patched but will definately be fixed for next year.
On top of this he also offered me an awesome and simple workaround.
before you start the game change the timezone on windows so that it matches a french time. start the game and problem solved. then when you finish playing just change the clock back.
Simple and effective, bit annoying having to change the clock all the time but i can live with that as long as i can play PCM!

Why shouldn't it? And what prevents you from trying it out yourself? |

I am also in NZ, and while I am not on PCM11 I can confirm that changing the timezone before playing the game does indeed stop this save game issue on PCM09.

I had the same problem in Aus in PCM 2010 for versions 1.0.0.0 through to 1.0.3.0. After this though, there was no issues. Cyanide have fixed it in the past, why not now?
Anyone in Aus experiencing this with 2011?

I am from NZ as well, I encountered the same problem (as I had also had this problem in PCM 2010) with the skipping of the stages. I tried the French time-changing thing an it worked perfectly. Still disappointed that this hasn't been fixed as it sounds as though it has been around for ages. |
