Transfers are halfway through, CT teams may be wondering how to spend some of their money, so here is a reminder of the wildcard prices.
Type | Price | Classics Wildcards | 50,000 | Monuments Wildcards | 75,000 | Classics and Monuments Wildcards | 100,000 | Stage Races Wildcards | 100,000 | Grand Tour Wildcards | 150,000 | Grand Tours and Stage Races Wildcards | 200,000 | All PT Races Wildcards | 300,000 |
Each PT race has one Continental team in it as a Wildcard - there is potentially room for 2 CT teams in a race should a PT team, for whatever reason, decline to enter one of the ProTour races.
GTs and Monuments are limited to ProContinental teams.
As an example of how it works, If you buy a Classics Wildcard option, you can apply for Wildcards for as many classics as you like. You would, of course, get a refund if you do not ultimately end up with a wildcard.

Last year we had 2 because we only had 19 PT teams. Theres only space for 21 x 9 man teams, plus the control team, within the 200 rider limit.

Ah, I understand. I'll write the Giro off my wishlist then, it's stupid not to include Vespa there :-p

You misunderstand how wildcards work.
I dont look at all the options and pick the CT team who will do the best in that race.
I try to share them out, and in regards to GTs inparticular, priority goes to teams who have never ridden a GT before, provided their suggested roster is decent enough.

Good news for me, even though I would feel bad for taking Vespa's Giro spot away, since I feel his main priority this transfer season has been to get a leader for the Giro :-p btw, I've been carefull to save 300k for Wildcards

Perhaps it'd be wise to mention at this point, though whether this rule is continuing or not is unknown to me, that new teams haven't, in the past, been allowed to get a Wildcard into a Grand Tour. That's a reward for sticking around for longer than a season and "failing" if you like, to get promoted.

By definition ProContinental teams are the Continental teams who are not new, which I mentioned, yes.

It seems that you expected me to read what you wrote. Well, I didn't.

That's a shame about wildcards reducing down to one.
With just one for each race on the cards, the way I read it is Vespa have little chance of riding any of the Italian races, as we've ridden them before. Ginanni hasn't raced the Giro, though.
Btw, Heine, the priority wasn't to get someone for the Giro, the priority was to get a stage race leader for the team as we have never had one.

Well, you do get to ride all the races with Cafe de Colombia!

You could get the Giro organizers to kick Cafe de Colombia out when they find out that the Little Prince is skipping it this year.

You buy them after transfers before the start of the season. You apply for them just like the other races. All sorted before the season begins. |

Could we do a 2-man control team, allowing the GT's to have 2 wildcards?

Please assume I am joking unless otherwise stated

In the past though, time cuts and crashes have resulted in races being cut short, because all of the control riders were out.

Yeah imo we need a Control Team of full merits, and hopefully also of some quality, so it will be easy for them to get across the line in time.

Im not sure if a 2-man control team would work - it might be limited to 1 - and in a Grand Tour inparticular, its risking a lot of hassle to have such a small control team.
