Continental Tour Division 2 FAQ
Smowz
Q: What is the Management Game?
A: The Management Game is, like the name suggests, a fantasy cycling game organized here on PCM.Daily. The main focus is on the management part, as you don't control the riders yourself.

Q: How will the Continental Division 2 section of the ManGame work?
A: The season can be broken down into 5 main parts: The pre-season arrangements, the transfers, the race planner, the season itself and then finally the post season.

1. The pre-season arrangements

All teams will need to create their team from scratch, that starts with picking a team name and presenting your team jersey. This can be done in the CDiv2 Teams HQ Forum.

In this division each team will need a nationality or region focus in which at least 50%* of your team is made up from your selected nationality or region. This needs to be selected before the season starts.

*In the event of an odd number of riders in a team the 50% limit will be rounded down. Meaning a team of 13 riders needs to have 6 riders of chosen nationality/region and a team of 15 riders needs to have 7 riders of chosen nationality/region.

Once applications have been processed also you will be asked to pick three team goals. This will consist of two race win (stage race GC or classic win) goals and one from a selection of to be announced season goals. These goals will be used to judge the success of your first season and completing them may lead to a slightly better financial situation for the next season, if your application to the Continental Tour is succesful.

2. The transfers

Probably the most important step of the game as this is where you assemble your team. It is estimated at this stage the transfers will start on Friday 15th July in the evening. For the Continental division 2 the transfer season will last ONE week and the only way to gain riders is to successfully bid on them as free agents.

By the end of the transfer season you will need to build a team of between 12 and 16 (inclusive) riders and spend no more than 900,000 Euros. You will also need to ensure your teams fulfill the nationality or region quota.

More specific rules on the transfer season will be posted a day or two before the transfer season starts.

3. Race planner and wildcards

In all there will be 26 races within the Division 2 seasons where every team is expected to take part with a squad of up to FIVE riders selected for each race. The only exception will be the Chrono Gatineau Individual Time Trial where you can only select up to THREE riders.

The race profiles are listed in the Race profiles 2012 thread. CDiv2 races are on the last two pages.

The CDiv2 calander can be downloaded
here

Based on a riders average the number of race days allowed will be calculated, this will be a slightly different calculation used to the Continental Tour and the Protour. Your best riders will likely receive less race days then less highly rated riders which makes the race planners an important tactical part of the season.

Before the race planners are released however each team will be able to select a Wildcard race from a selection of c1 rated continental tour races. Initially you will select from a group of races from the beginning of the season. Then halfway through the season a second selection of races will be opened up to those that have maintained a good level of activity. Riders riding in wildcard races will use NO race days out of their usual allocation.

Once wildcard selections are in each team will then be sent out their race planners in which managers will need to select their riders for each race the team is entered for (wildcards and Division two races).

4. The season
Once everyones has sent in their line-ups, it's time to enjoy the game. The races will be written up and raced by reporters. They will bring up a thread when the race comes near with a preview. In this place you can also discuss the race. The reporter controls the 'Control Team'. A team with crappy riders that won't interact with the race. So it's AI vs AI, and if your team fails, blame PCM and not the reporters .

Keep an eye out for opportunities of other races for your riders throughout the season. The U23 division, World championships, Tour of L'Avenir and this season the Olympics entries will open up as the season goes on.

5. The post season
There is no promotion or relegation between the Continental divisions, each division 2 team will need to apply to open spaces in the Continental tour in the usual way. The continental tour does not have a fixed amount of teams so there will always be room for outstanding managers. If you have managed your team well and stayed active your application will likely be successful.

Q: What other technical rules do I need to know?

A: Most of the rules for the usual man game apply to CDiv2 riders, some of the key threads to have a look at include:

2012 Ranking system PLEASE NOTE: For simplicity we will be allocating points using the Continental C1 ranking system

Stat gains thread

Stat increases
PLEASE NOTE: In Cdiv2 level 1 riders will gain 2 EXP per race day in Division 2 races and level 2 riders will gain 1 EXP per race day in division 2 races. Wildcard races will give experience.

You will note in the rules and announcements thread there are other useful threads such as team equipment and this is where Sporting Nonsense and the rest of the admins will keep everyone updated.
