Look aside from the fact that the AI never form a train in the sprints, there's one pretty big thing that gets to me. I find it very hard to win sprints, because of the fact that I have every single rider with more than 80 in sprints on my wheel every single damn time!
I have Goss and Sabatini as my main sprinters and their daily form dictates who will be the leadout and who will do the sprinting. I was in the Tour Down Under and my usuall leadout train is: Ignatiev->Goss->Sabatini
However, in the TDU my train was this: Ignatiev->Sabatini->Boonen->Cavendish->Haussler->Swift. As you can see I had a small disadvantage. I tried to combat this by having someone getting on the wheel of my sprinter, but whenever I got him to follow the game suddenly had him "unfollow" every single time. There was no one on my sprinters wheel and I tried to get Goss to follow Sabatini. I was going to let Goss drop back once the sprint started. Every single time I tried this he followed for about 2 seconds before he shot of to the side like a rocket and suddenly I had Boonen on my wheel...again...
Is there a way to avvoid this? I've tried steering my rider behind Boonen etc. but then he just falls to the back of the peloton. I am just sick and tired of every single rider following me when I can't follow anyone! I really hope the AI won't have any unfair advantages in the 2011 version.
PS: I'm not an idiot when it comes to sprints, but suddenly I can't have my sprinter follow my leadout, he also refuses to follow any other sprinters. Therefor I have to try to sprint with Igantiev... I lost the sprinters jersey in the TDU with 2 points to Boonen because of this and for the first time I'm considering editing the result... losing I can take, but this is just downright cheating by the AI.

And you are following with 11,9 km to go? If it's too late, the other sprinters will sit on the weels of Boonen etc. and then you cant. |

Well, to a certain extent, this is what happens in real cycling as well.
Better or simply more experienced sprinters might have an advantage following a main sprinter and keeping his rear wheel right until the sprint.
Riders with less strenght might get pushed away and have to rejoin the sprint train some places behind.
You can't avoid that in-game sometimes.

I understand what you are saying, but this is happening every single sprint. I wouldn't really say that Swift is a veteran compared to Goss? Besides, how do you presicly manouver your sprinter to try to get behind the wheel of someone else? At about 15km I see that all the main sprinters are flocking around my and I was wondering how you can get your guy to move maybe 1-2 meters to the left/right or just a little bit up and down? |

I actually find it best to wait until at least 9-10km before forming thr train. just make sure all trian members are near the front obviously though |

I just had a really weird sprint.
I'm riding with Sky and have signed Cavendish. He was embroiled in a battle royal for the Green Jersey with Boonen and on the last stage was 10 points behind Boonen.
For some reason on the Champs Elysees Boonen just sat up and didn't contest the sprint leaving Cav to take the stage win and the green jersey.
Has anyone else experienced this? Seemed to make the whole battle for Green pointless if Boonen is going to just sit up and let Cav win on the last day. |

That happens to me too, maybe 5-10times per season,it is very annoying when you get the win by that

well everyone else sprinted, just not Boonen. at one point he was even sat on Cavendish's wheel, he just didn't bother sprinting when Cavendish did.
my sponsors wanted me to win the Green Jersey so i'm quite pleased to have done that. Would have been nice to do it properly though. |
