Help with computer specs and games
United Forever
Hopefully somebody in this great community could sought out a problem for me Smile

I'm having trouble running newer games like, Dragon Age 2, Crysis 2 and other games. I'm having games like Fallout New Vegas which runs fine at a high resolution ´but these games will not even start Sad

I always get to the first logo screen in both games but then it freezes and I have to reboot to use my computer.

I have a Toshiba with:
Pentium(R) dual-Core CPU T4300 @ 2.10Ghz 2.10Ghz
4 GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4600 Series with 1GB
and running with Windows 7 64Bit system

is it a driver issue? or something else? any advise is welcome since other communities (the other games) haven't help me much Smile

Please help and thanks in advance Grin

DAMN that sucks.. Smile but isn't there any chance that I can run them? Wink

and thanks for the fast answer Smile

There's no problems with the processor - it's dual core, so that's fine.

You can maybe launch the game but there is a big risk because you processor can become overheated (do say like this?). I overheated my processor once... the computer never started again. Sad

Yea, also you cant compare Fallout to Crysis 2. Fallout uses old engine while Crysis 2 and Dragon Age 2 use much newer ones and much more demanding. You need to change processor and your graphic card is a on weak side. Would struggle to play C2 on medium even counting you bought better processor. You can get much better radeon 5770 for cheap dirt money though and runs preety well too. Do you wany any recomendations for what processor is good for you budget of money ( if you decide to buy new one of,course ) ?

My computer is a laptop so I'm not changing anything right now Wink but thanks wverybody for the quick answers it helped me alot Wink by the way I knew that I could never play Dragon Age 2 or Crysis 2 at highest but hoped I could have played with very low graphics Grin for me its more about the game then the graphics but its nice if the graphics are smooth Grin but thanks Wink

Hmm, this is interesting. PCM 2010 runs slowly on my laptop and I can only have the basic graphics settings.

I was assuming I needed a new laptop. But would simply changing the processor and the graphics card do the trick? If so, is it easy to do? And what would you recommend?

As I said: Those specs are single core. United Forever has a two core processor.

Excuse me, I didn't know that.

@ CrueTrue

Sure, I realise my specs aren't good enough. My processor is a Dual Core processor, 1.86Ghz. I have 2BG of memory and a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 graphics card.

My question was about whether I could just replace the processor and the graphics card, or whether I would be better off buying a new laptop?

CrueTrue
You can't really replace parts on a laptop. That's the benefit of a desktop: It's much cheaper, and stuff can be replaced when it gets outdated.

So in your case: If you don't mind having a desktop, keep your current laptop for portability and buy a desktop for playability. If you don't want a desktop, there are plenty of good gamer laptops - but again, you get a lot more for your money if you buy a desktop.

On the issue of United: Did you try deleting the intro videos in Program Files/Cyanide/PCM/Videos? Alternatively, try to run the game in windowed mode (My Docs -> PCM -> Config. Open GraphicConfiguration with Notepad, change "Fullscreen" to false)

Thanks CrueTrue!

A new laptop is what I will have to go for as I will need something portable as I;m often on the move. My budget is limited but I guess anything will be an improvement on my current machine.

superider2010
i have a hp intel core i3 2,3 ghz,4 gb ram,ati mobility hd 5470 512 mb up to 2 gb
if i use the maximum resolution 1366x768,the game pcm2011 recomended me medium details
if i use 1024x768 or 800x600,then the game recommend high details
notebooks/laptops are crappy for games
by the way i3 core has 4 CPUs,it's not a quad core,has 2 cores/4 threads
on benchmarks,in some applications can battle with amd athlon ll x4(4 cores/4 threads,a real quad core)
still i have a crappy notebook
notebooks with i5 core or i7core and ati hd(amd hd)63xx,that's good notebooks for gaming at 600-800 euro

dell nvidea geforce gt 525m 1gb dedicated,640 gb hdd
acer nvidea geforce gt 540m 2 gb dedicated,500 gb hdd
dell cost 700 £ = 800 euro
acer cost 650 euro

It would do but as superider2010 PC World is not the best way to go. You can find much better laptops for cheaper. Few good and very reliable PC shops in UK online would be -

https://www.palico...

https://www.chillb...m/home.php

Great prices and very reliable too.
