I am beginning to doubt if going up to level 6 is worth it. A longer period at level 5 seems to be a better bet
whats your experience? |

I never use lvl 6 training, but i think one or two lvl6 weeks are ok, if you don't have too many peaks |

I use level 6 only on certain type of fitness programs, no more than 2 consecutive weeks.
they are worth it, especially for very important goals where the field is strong (TdF, Ardennes and Cobble Classics) and only in the first "peak" of the season (in the second peak of the season max fitness will probably be lower than 80 so there's no reason to push harder than level 5 with training). |

In PCM 09 I never used level 6. I also never used it in my first season. But as fitness became much more important in PCM10 I started to use it. 1-2 level 6 weeks over the whole season with some rest weeks in between are fine.
It`s a big different between 94 fitness and 99 fitness in the Tour for example. So quite useful in my opinion.
For most races level 5 is enough. |

and why do I win the Tour with 90 fitness and climbing of 80 and not as the best ride in peloton? (on schwer) |

It`s possible for sure. It also depends on the skills of the players of course.
But since fitness is very important in PCM10 it`s never bad to have 4-6 points more during the Tour. And the fatigue level isn`t increasing too much as in PCM09. |

My Opinion: You don't need level 6 for the classics (depends on the rider, Cancellara doesn't) but you need it for GT's. Right now I'm playing a career with Leopard Trek. I didn't use Level 6 at all. I won 3 classics (RvV, P-R (both Cancellara) & Flèche Wallone (Andy)), but I had no chance in GT's (13th with Monfort in Giro, 3rd with Andy & 11th with Fränk in Tour).
@sciby: "on schwer" nice one hard
@roturn: Let's take the Tour for example. For which week would you use level 6? |

I normally use hard for the time between 2nd and 3rd week. So my riders are 99 when the last 3-4 mountains are coming.
It also depends on the riders you have. With Cancellara or Schleck you are already one of the best and level 5 can also work out,
But I have Hesjedal and LL Sanchez, there you also need level 6 in the Ardennes to have realistic chances on a good top10. |
