Hi everyone,
I am totally new to this game and I don't even know about cycling race in the real life. However, I am into manager simulation type of game.
I am starting with a Custom Team and Normal Mode. Since I have a very limited of fund (50,000), I have decided to start with pure young riders (they are cheap 2,000 - 3,100 each. I took 25 of them.
So, I began my career with 50,000 fund.
I started 10 days training camp (pre-season) 3 Jan - 13 Jan
I have read LOTS of guide but it's just strange. Even when I do my race and stay in the peleton for the whole race (using the stay within group button in the middle of the pack), I always got burn out, empty yellow bar and empty red bar within 30km from the finish line.
Suddenly within 12 km, all the team in the peleton start to pace up and my team will get left without anything to do right behind the peleton.
AFAIK stay within group will ignore the effort meter |

Your riders might not be strong enough to stay in the peloton if they only cost you 2,000 on average. I would try spending a little more for average riders and then a few weak ones rather than all weak young guys.

In your first career, you should select one of the better teams.
And if you really must build your own team, then there are two things you should absolutely know:
It takes very long for young riders to become average, none of them might become good.
You have to use up all the money when selecting riders. Unused money will just dissapear. |

Wow... thanks for the info...
I have to restart for a new game then....
I am an experienced Football Manager player where I love to start with a team from a very low division, but totally noob to the cycling world...
How many riders should I start with using my custom team ? a minimum of 10 a max of 25... 10 ? 12 ? 15 ?
How often should I go to race for a rider ? One day in a week ? Meaning if my rider joins 4 stages race (4 days), I may have to make him rest for the rest of the days in that particular month... is that right ? |

You have to select 15 i think.
II recommend one rider with mountain and hill stats of at least 72/73 and a sprinter of at least 72. That will at least give you a chance of competing
You have to race to get race fitness , the important thing is to plan your training and race schedule so that your best riders are at their peak in a target race

If this is your first ever attempt at the game I would take a big team for a season so you can work out how the game works and also have a possibility of winning most races.
Ass far as races goes, you want all your riders to race roughly 60 days, normally you would spread that out over two peaks which each last about two months

If you really want to play with a custom team, do this:
1. Get some good riders first (2 - 4). For example sort by country and look for good cyclists from your country. I recommend getting a good sprinter and a rider with good hill stats. To play realistic, you could look at the age of them too. Older riders might finish their career in smaller teams.
2. Get some average riders as helpers (2 - 5)
3. Fill the squad with young riders until you have 16. It is not needed to get more because you have to dump them anyway later in your career.
Just make sure to use up all money. So rather get one more decent rider then 5 young riders.
If you start the career, the game will automatically select some races for you. If you really have no clue then just play them.
Inform yourself how to set the training plans to get your riders into form for the races. I would recommend that you never use level 6 in the training plans because it would exhaust your riders too fast. Try to set the peaks according to the sponsor goals.
Do not forget to sign secondary sponsors in the first month each year.
This game is not realistic regarding race participation. Your riders could race in germany on monday and usa on tuesday. Also they will be totally recovered once a race is finished, so you don't have to rest your riders.
There is an overall fatigue but it will only increase or lower according to the training plan (level 4-6 will tire your riders / level 1-2 for recovery). |

No rider from China..... >.<
I am assuming that the target races are based on the sponsors expectation right ?
The idea is to have as closer as possible to 80 + 20 fitness right ?
I have read somewhere, if possible I have to avoid increasing my fitness through the training camp (just to be fair to the AI)... I know that I gain a max of 20 points fitness through races, but is it possible to gain the 80 points through races ? |

No, there are two separate fitness:
1) Training fitness which goes from 0-80. If you train too much this maximum of 80 goes down and down...
2. Rcae fitness. This starts at 0 and goers to a maximum of 20. After 60 days racing the maximum drops. At the beginning ten is the maximum but this increases as you race.
Even during race days the training figure still increases
So, Yes, for an importnat race you shoudlk aim to have your importnat rider s at 80/80 and 20/20 |
